How does it work?
To deposit cash using Barzahlen, follow the steps mentioned below:
- Go to 🏠 Home
- Click on 🟣 Add
- Add Money
- Tap on Cash Deposit and select the desired amount
- A barcode will then be generated and a map with Barzahlen supported stores will be seen
- Go to the desired store and show the barcode
To withdrawal funds using Barzahlen, follow these steps:
- Go to 🏠 Home
- Tap on the desired Bank Account
- Tap "More"
- Select "Withdrawal & Deposit"
- A screen will pop up asking you if you want to withdrawal or deposit funds. Select "Withdrawal"
- Type in the desired sum
- A barcode will then be generated and a map with Barzahlen supported stores will be seen
- Go to the desired store and show the barcode
Note: The barcode for both deposits and withdrawals is valid for 1 hour so make sure to check the store’s working hours before generating the barcode. Further more, you have 4 free withdrawals per month. After this, you'll be charged €0.99 per withdrawal.
Who can use Barzahlen/Viacash?
bunq Personal and Business users [with Easy Bank, Easy Bank Pro, Easy Bank Pro XL plans] living in 🇩🇪 Germany or 🇦🇹 Austria or bunq users with the previously mentioned plans who travel to the available countries.
Can I use this service if I'm traveling to Germany or Austria?
Yes! As long as you've location services enabled in your app, the Withdraw and Deposit button will be shown when you're in a supported country 🙌
What are the limits?
Deposits: The minimum is €50 and the max is €999,99 per 24h period. The first €100 deposited each (billing) month is free, then there’s a 2,5% fee on the total amount above that. You'll be charged this in your monthly invoice.
Withdrawals: The minimum is €1 and the maximum is €200 per calendar day.
All limits apply per user not per bank account. These limits don't have an influence on the card (withdraw) limits. You can check your withdrawal limits here
Barzahlen/viacash withdrawals will be counted towards the 6 free withdrawals per month for Easy Bank Pro and Easy Bank Pro XL users.
Why is Barzahlen/Viacash not available in other countries?
To give users in countries that rely on cash an easier way to make deposits, we partnered with Barzahlen/viacash Payment Solutions. They only provide service in 🇩🇪 Germany and 🇦🇹 Austria at this time, but we'll be sure to update you if this ever changes.

Where can I withdraw and deposit money using Barzahlen?
When you select Barzahlen in the app it'll show you a map with all the nearby locations you can withdraw or deposit money. The options are available at REWE, Penny, Real, dm, BUDNI, Ludwig, Eckert, ON Express, Adam’s, Barbarino and mobilcom-debitel.
How long will my barcode be available to use? When does it expire?
The barcode expires after 60 min. When it expires, you'll get a push saying it expired and you can just make a new barcode if you need to.
How can I cancel a failed Barzahlen withdrawal/deposit?
Withdrawal/deposit can't be canceled right now due to a limitation on Barzahlen's side, so that they've the time to verify if the withdrawal or deposit actually happened or not before allowing it to be canceled. After 48 hours the event will either be canceled automatically, or you'll be able to cancel it manually from the bunq app. You should immediately be able to make a new withdrawal/deposit
Barzahlen offers more deposit points than your application, why is that?
Yes, indeed there are more points that are operated by Barzahlen, but we suggest using the ones shown within our application. If a particular location is being shown on their website, but not in our app, you can't use it. The reasoning behind is that those points only allow deposits up to €100.00, and for us in order to fully support that location, we'd have to limit every transaction to €100.00. We want to be flexible towards you and enable you to withdraw and deposit more than €100.00.
How long does it take before my deposit is in my account?
As soon as the retailer confirms the deposit, it should be straight in your account.
