• Search results missing some transactions

I noticed this week that various transactions are failing to show up when using the search feature in the bunq app. For example, searching for the word “invoice” I find all the bunq invoices on the 8th of each month, except September and November of this year are missing. Scrolling back manually confirms they are really there, just missing from the search results somehow. Some further testing revealed a small but significant number of other, apparently unrelated, transactions that also fail to show up in any search.

This is a frustrating issue since one expects these results to be complete and reliable, and to be able to draw conclusions from e.g. the absence of a transaction in a certain time period. Right now it seems if something appears in search results it exists, but the converse it not necessarily true...

At first I thought it might be just me, but I heard from another user who had the same issue: for him the same bunq invoices of Sep and Nov are missing in search, as well as some other random tranasactions.

I reported the issue to support. Apparently it is a known issue that is being worked on.

Did some testing. In some cases I can't find a transaction. For instance.. searching for "bunq.me" doesn't give any results. Also if I search for a part of a word, this only works if I look for the first part of a word. Finally I searched for the word "Rituals" because I know there is a transaction that is called that way... but didn't gave any results. So, I also wonder how complete search results realy are. I did 10 searches of words I know are there, found 8 of them.

Did some more testing and found more strings with no results. For example, manually I found transaction for "Kruitvat" and "ETOS"... But when searching for these terms, I couldn't find anything. So, my conclusion so far is that the Search function isn't fully reliable.

We upgraded to a newer version of search just a few days ago; might be that some corner cases are not working properly. Andre will take a look :)! Thanks for noticing!

Also here the same problem :)

Hi Ali, happens for me as well, for example Nuon (energy bill). But: maybe the problem occurs longer than a few days, it happened to me a month ago as well. Sorry for not reporting it back then, I forgot about it.

Ah ok - then it's unrelated to our recent upgrade. Looking at it is good nevertheless, thanks for the info!

I have the same issue. Drew a wrong conclusion because of this, so quite annoying.

I reported this issue last Saturday, too. My missing transaction appeared again in the search two days later.

Yes, I wasted other people's time as I assumed the search results were correct and thought some monthly incasso's had been missed.

When i search for the word "factuur" the bunq invoices are not found, only when i search the English word "invoice".

And some bunq.ME payments can not be found..

                            9 days later

What is the latest status regarding this issue?

We added relaxation of search terms on next deploy (1-2 days from now). This will alleviate most issues, but not solve all of them. Depending on how many people keep want what improvements we'll consider whether to spend more time on it and how much.

What do you understand by “improvement” on search results? A search on transactions on a bank account is a very different thing from a search engine on the internet. A search on bank transactions must product complete, accurate and timely results. It is quite unacceptable that some transactions that meet the search criteria are missing from the search result.

I really love bunq, but ik agree with Andrew. The search resultaat must be 100% reliable. I splitted costs based on wrong results..

Or maybe we can use the "if this, then that" rule system that is discussed in another thread in order to build our own search function instead of the broken bunq search.
