• MT940 file format documentation?

ING has it's own extra documentation for it's MT940 files;

https://www.ing.nl/zakelijk/betalen/betalingen-doen/bestandsformaten/index.html

Does Bunq also have this for their MT940 files?

I'm currently programming a MT940 file reader and I've already implemented ING, hope to do bunq too.

    Hi Elise,

No, it's not that. I already know how to export it. This is a far more technical question. ING documents it's MT940 format (the technical description of their MT940 implementation that is) in a PDF. See: https://www.ing.nl/media/ING_ming_mt940s_24_juli_tcm162-46356.pdf

I was wondering if Bunq also has some documentation of their MT940 implementation

      Hi again!

We can send you a mt940 if you would like 👍. But to keep our future accountancy completely automated, we will be using open APIs rather than mt940.

At this link, you can check out a list of bookkeeping connections --> https://www.bunq.com/en/experience/easy-bookkeeping!

Let me know if this helped clear things up 🙆.

      Cheers!

You mean like a special MT940 test file with all SWIFT record types and tags that Bunq supports? That will actually work too. I'm aware that API's are the future. Will work on that later :)

The PDF from ING that I linked gives me a way to test my code for the MT940 file reader I'm programming. I just want a way to test my code against a Bunq export too.

Yes 🙂 We can send you a bunq export to your email if you would like!

            Hi Elise,

Thank you for sending the file. Sadly it wasn't what I was looking for. But no worries, I no longer need it because my code works now...

Thank you for letting us know!

              Cheers!

@NIRG-Systems-International-B-V-Orange-Jaguar#38630 You can very easily export such file yourself, go to the account and tap on settings. There is a button to export statements. Select your period and change the filetype to MT940.

                  Great, you're welcome!

@ALHAN-GLOBAL-Azure-Zebra#220172 The easiest and fastest way to get an MT940 file is by going to the Home tab > selecting any sub-account > open MENU > export statements. Then select your period and change the filetype to MT940.

Then just open it up in a text editor and you can see exactly what kind of MT940 files are generated by bunq.

                        Hi,

i have couple of subaccounts on bunq that have been deprecated but i still have mt940 files for them Unfortunately they are not recogmised by jorrt.nl(bookeeping software) so i was wondering if there is somewhere information specs for bunq's MT940 format so that i can try writing some code in order to convert this files.
