In the beginning using my metal card didn’t work. When I tried to pay buy card in a restaurant or store, it said wrong pin, even tough Nicaragua was enabled on Bunq.

My initial work around was simply using contactless payment with the card, which worked fine. Otherwise anywhere they take accept contactless payments you can use Apple Pay!

The strange thing, from later on in the week, I was able to insert my card, but wasn’t ask for a PIN anymore. It would go through and ask for a signature.

For ATM withdrawal I can recommend BAC! Definitely have some cash with you, because no everyone has a card reader. Especially in smaller places and islands like Ometepe.
