✈️ Heading to Singapore? We've gathered some tips from the bunq community to make sure your trip is the smoothest it can be. 😎

Check them out below! 🌈 πŸ‘‡

Using your card

πŸ’³ Do I need cash in Singapore, or can I use my card everywhere?

Cards are widely accepted, but you will definitely need some cash.

There are taxis, and small businesses who only accept cash.

πŸ’° What currency do they use here?

The currency here is Singapore dollar. The symbol is $ or SGD.

🏧 Which ATM’s can I use for free?

The bunq community has reported free withdrawals at these ATMs.

  • UOB
  • DBS
  • POSB
  • OCBC

The bunq community has reported (possible) additional fee's at the following ATMs.

  • Standard Chartered

πŸ’΅ If I want cash, how much should I take out of an ATM?

100 SGD should be enough for a few days.

πŸ’³ Should I choose local currency or Euros when paying?

If you're asked to choose between local currency and Euros, always choose local currency.

That way bunq does the conversion for you, and you get to take advantage of the best rates with bunq ZeroFX.

Staying connected

πŸ“± Can I roam, or should I get a local SIM?

Most EU mobile plans will charge you for roaming in Singapore.

Wifi is readily available in Singapore, especially in coffee shops.

If you want to get a local SIM card, you can learn about your options here.

Useful things to know

Google and Apple Maps both work well in Singapore.
Citymapper has some extra information about seats availability in trains.

πŸ‘€ Any other good tips?

  • Public transport is incredibly effective in this country, so get your Singapore unlimited Tourist Pass and discover everything it has to offer while you save money! Use Citymapper to view in which part of the train seats are available.
  • When there's not yet VAT and service included in the price it will be shown on menu's as ++. When they are included it will be shown as 'nett'.

    2 months later

I had free withdrawal at ATM from Maybank. Citibank charges 3S$ for withdrawal and UOB asked for minimum withdrawal of 200 S$. At ATM and in shops used the MasterCard Debit (on Apple Pay).

      9 days later

In Singapore, you can use your bunq card directly to tap on and off of public transport. It works with the MasterCard and with Apple Pay.
