💳 Do I need cash in Singapore, or can I use my card everywhere?

Cards are widely accepted, but you will definitely need some cash.

There are taxis, and small businesses who only accept cash.

💰 What currency do they use here?

The currency here is Singapore dollar. The symbol is $ or SGD.

🏧 Which ATM’s can I use for free?

The bunq community has reported free withdrawals at these ATMs.

• UOB
• DBS
• POSB
• OCBC

The bunq community has reported (possible) additional fee's at the following ATMs.

💵 If I want cash, how much should I take out of an ATM?

100 SGD should be enough for a few days.

💳 Should I choose local currency or Euros when paying?

If you're asked to choose between local currency and Euros, always choose local currency.

That way bunq does the conversion for you, and you get to take advantage of the best rates with bunq ZeroFX.

📱 Can I roam, or should I get a local SIM?

Most EU mobile plans will charge you for roaming in Singapore.

Wifi is readily available in Singapore, especially in coffee shops.

💁‍♀️ How does tipping work?

The country does not have a tipping culture, so you don´t have to leave any extra.

A 10% standard service fee will be included on the bill.

🚨 What’s the emergency number?

There are different numbers for the different services here.

• 🚓 Police: 999
• 🚑 Ambulance: 995
• 🚒 Fire: 995

🔌 What type of plug do they use?

This one! It’s the standard British plug.

🚗 What side of the road do they drive on?

They drive on the left side of the road here.

🗺 How do I navigate my way around?

Google and Apple Maps both work well in Singapore.
Citymapper has some extra information about seats availability in trains.

👀 Any other good tips?

• Public transport is incredibly effective in this country, so get your Singapore unlimited Tourist Pass and discover everything it has to offer while you save money! Use Citymapper to view in which part of the train seats are available.
• When there's not yet VAT and service included in the price it will be shown on menu's as ++. When they are included it will be shown as 'nett'.
