  • Charge accounts based on the category

It would be nice if you could charge accounts based on the category of the transaction.
So as an example:
I pay with my normal Debitcard wich is linked to my main bunq account. I pay in a local supermarket so the payment gets categorized as "groceries" and therefore my grocery account (which was also categorized as a grocery account) gets charged instead of the main account.

2nd example
I pay with Google pay (also linked to my main account) for tech in a local tech store. The payment gets categorized and my tech account gets charged because it was linked to the category tech.

In short: Make it possible to link categories to accounts, so payments of that category get substracted from that account.

I doubt they will implement this. The categorisation is good, but not perfect. You might end up having charges on the wrong account because a transaction might be tagged with the wrong category. And when that happens, customer will blame bunq for the mistake.

This is easily doable on the API thou, and it's something I just stated working on a personal project (https://github.com/igoramadas/jarbunq). The conditions won't be based on the category, but on the merchant details. So whenever I buy something from store ABC, it still charges the main account but it will trigger a draft payment (that you have to confirm on the app) to make a transfer from the source account to the main one.
