Today it was announced that Jelle S., the prime suspect in the DDoS attacks against bunq, has been arrested. As you all know, Dutch banks and tax offices have been frequent targets of these cyber attacks for months at an end.
The attacks against us started in September of 2017. During these attacks we always worked around the clock to make sure our users are affected as little as possible. We've been keeping you up-to-date every step of the way, you can find more info here about the steps we took at the time👍.
We were quick to figure out who it was and collected the necessary evidence. Thanks to the great relationship we've established with the police, we were able to solve this case quickly 🙌. You can find the police's press release here.
Attackers can use the internet with high levels of anonymity, which makes it all the more exceptional that a suspect has been caught. We're happy to have helped the police with this case. Please let us know if you have any questions! 😊
