  • Load search results faster

Hello! 👋🏻

I don’t know if it’s just me, but even with a fast internet connection I find that loading search results is always really slow 🐌. Getting to the point that it’s annoying and I try to avoid search even when I’d actually need to use it.

I understand that there are a lot of transactions to search through, but search at my previous bank (ING) was way faster and they have even more transactions to search in... (not being mean; it’s an encouragement that faster search results are in fact possible 😄).

Would love to see faster search results! 🚀

@Reuel#124552 Just to be able to get an idea about what you think 'long' means, can you tell how many seconds it takes to load a search query in your app? For me it took 2 seconds to search for all payments with 'Apple' involved (so also all my Apple Pay transactions).

@TwitNour#124554 Wenn ich nach Apple Pay Suche finde ich diese Zahlungen nicht.

@Heiko-Hartwig#124557 Never said I looked for Apple Pay. My query included only the word Apple 😉

@TwitNour#124558 Korrekt. Ich suche auch nur nach Apple. Egal, bleiben wir besser beim Thema.

“Apple” took 10 seconds the first time, if I search for it again now, it takes around 3 seconds.

I tried ING too for comparison (also tried with the name of my city as search query in both the bunq and ING app) and the results are shown within 1 second — even the first time.

It’s a matter of seconds, but if you try to do multiple searches quickly after each other, which is often the case, the (unnecessary?) waiting time gets annoying 😊

Interesting. My search results always come up within 1 second and never really experienced longer waiting times with decent connections, and I have a lot of transactions. Only with really slow connection it could take a tiny bit longer but that makes sense.

@Tim#124573 I have the same experience, a search takes max. 2 seconds.
Tested it with multiple words (Google, PayPal, Google Pay ...)

"Apple" does not work for me at all. All of my payments are done with Apple Pay but the search (in the account or events) finds nothing. Anyway ...

But it is good to see now a hint that says "Apple Pay Zahlung" below each payment.

16 (!) seconds to load a keyword search. It is the main friction for me, it takes a while to do your administration this way....

I just tried this. I've been using bunq as my main bank for over a year now, so I have a lot of transactions.
Search takes approximately 1 second. Scrolling again takes 1 second every time new results are loaded.
This is the same as scrolling through the (unfiltered) events list. So for me it is acceptable speed.
Do you use the Android or iPhone app? And is it a high-end or low-end phone (performance should still be great regardless, just trying to help determine if the problem is client or server related)

On an iPhone 11 (I consider that high-end) it also takes a bit for some of my queries. For companies of which I do not have a lot of transactions it takes longer it seems (I counted 7 seconds for a certain query) whereas other searches are almost instant (~1 second). Haven't been able to find to connection yet,.. I thought that maybe for the infrequent transactions it would search by a blocks maybe, first the past 3 months, then the 3 months before that, etc. Then I can imagine it taking multiple seconds, but some transactions that were years ago show up nearly immediately,.. so I'm a bit clueless. 🤷‍♂️

Please improve the search function. It's very frustrating to use at the moment.

For example: I tried to filter transactions that are paid within the last month:

                            • Each time I scroll down and new transactions are loaded, it takes about 8-10 seconds(!) before they appear. I've also experienced that no new transactions were loaded and where I needed to close / open the app again.. (this is on wifi on a fast internet connection)
                            • Transactions (direct debits that didn't went through automatically but needed to accepted manually) are appearing twice in the overview.

search results are super slow, true, especially with older transactions it almost doesnt work? this should be improved and also have a way to quick filter results or partial match . i am on wifi, zero connection issues, the result latency is just quite bad from server side
