I’ll be in London in two weeks and I’d love to just use the Express travel card feature on my iPhone with my bunq MasterCard. Has anyone tried this before?
Here’s and example of it working in Japan https://youtu.be/kU5l4xDE8QI

It depends on how the card readers work. I have not tested this, but if they "advertise" as public transport terminals it should just work. However, you can just use Apple Pay like you would do a regular transaction. This will work, try it out and let us know if Apple Pay Express Transit Card works.
That is not yet supported by TfL, but as far as I know, should be launched soon.
EDIT: Here is a list of where is it currently supported: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207958
@JonasV#125373 If the MasterCard is a travel one, Apple Pay is not supported yet.
@Mar#125380 Thanks! According to that doc, at current time, it will not work as the video shows in my OP but instead I’ll have to use an authentication method. Still better than getting an oyster ;)
UPDATE 4/12:
Yes all bunq cards work with TfL "Oyster and Contactless" system. This includes the Maestro card.
And since Monday 2nd of December 2019, after a few months trial on the Underground turnstiles, Apple Pay Express Transit is now available and active on all transport types from TfL, Overground, Underground, DLR, Busses etc.
From iPhone SE & 6S or newer or Apple Watch S1 & S2 or newer. Express Transit with Power Reserve is available for iPhone XR & XS or newer. ❏
@DaveFlash#137321 Great news! Was planning on a teip to London somewhere in April, I’ll be sure to ditch the Oyster Card and rely on my watch!
