Why do I have to send a proof of residence? 🔎
When you go through our 5-minute verification process, we might ask you to confirm your address. This topic explains why we do this and how you can confirm your address.
Why do I need to confirm my address?
As a bank, we've to comply with various laws designed to keep you and your money safe. In some cases, we're required to confirm an address. If we're unable to confirm your address based on your geolocation, we’ll request an official document that proves your current address.
How does it work?
If your geolocation doesn’t match the address you used when signing up, we’ll ask you to provide additional documentation.
What kind of documents should I send?
Currently, we accept the following types of documents as proof of address:
✅ A residence permit issued less than 6 months ago. Please keep in mind that if the document was used for your identity verification you'll have to provide another document, from the accepted documents below
✅ Utility bill for gas, water or electricity from less than 3 months ago
✅ Rental agreements less than 6 months old
✅ Proof of registration at a municipality or city hall, no longer than 1 year old
✅ Proof of enrollment in school/university for the current academic year
I’ve already sent a document. Why do I need to send it again?
If you already provided a proof of residence and we asked you to submit again, this happened either because:
- you sent a type of document which isn't accepted as proof of residence
- important information was missing from the document
- the document is too old
- the document is blurry
- it's a scanned copy or a screenshot
- it isn't the full document: missing some pages or a part of a page isn't showing
🚫 Due to security reasons, we don't accept the following documents as a proof of residence:
- Bank statements
- Cell phone bills or any other bills
- Employment contracts
- Proof of property ownership
- Proof of temporary stay
- Address on an ID/Passport
- Short term permits from hostels/hotels
Please keep in mind that we can only accept your proof of residence if the following information is on the document:
- Your name
- Your full address
- Date of issue
- Your signature and the landlord’s on a rental agreement
- Logo of the company on the utility bill
We can only accept pictures of the original document only or a PDF version of the document.
We understand that sometimes it might be difficult to provide us with your most recent utility bills because they're on someone else’s name. This is why you can always confirm your location by requesting a document from the local municipality. Need to confirm your location? Contact your local municipality, they should be able to provide you with the right documents
What if I don’t have any of the documents listed above?
We'll only ask you for a document if we're legally required to do so. In case you can’t provide us with such a document, we're not able to complete the verification of the account. But as soon as you obtain one of these documents, we can proceed.
