@Jakob#128586 op welke manier wordt de betaling dan bevestigd als de Apple Watch geen netwerkverbinding heeft? 🤔 ik geloof je verhaal hoor, ik ben alleen nieuwsgierig hoe dit technisch werkt.

@Ilan#128588 Apple Pay works different technically than most other mobile payment solutions. With for example Google Pay, your card data is in a datacenter and your phone/device gets the tokens through a network connection. While it can cache some tokens, when they are used up, it has to get new ones from the server. With Apple Pay, the card data itself is only inside of the Secure Element of the device. It can generate as many payment tokens as you want, without ever needing a network connection. Only for the initial setup, the device needs to communicate with the Apple Pay servers.

So it works just like your normal card also works (and that doesn't have an internet connection either). Just that the card chip is now emulated by the device.

@Bernd-Cyan-Penguin#128576 Zur Einrichtung wird ein Token im SecureElement abgelegt. ApplePay funktioniert am stationären Terminal wie die plastik Karte. Das Terminal liefert ein paar Daten und die Karte signiert die Daten und übergibt sie wieder dem Terminal. Einzige Unterschied ist CDCVM wodurch die PIN Eingabe am Terminal entfällt. Für den Zahlvorgang ist weder bei der Plastikkarte noch bei ApplePay oder SamsungPay eine Internetverbindung notwendig.

@Ulrich-Aquamarine-Quokka#128623 Fun fact: Sowohl Bezahlarmbänder als auch ApplePay benutzen MagstripeMode over EMV. Was bedeutet, die Daten kommen im selben Format wie bei Zahlung mit Magnetstreifen, damit schön IT aus den 70ern und 80ern weiter benutzt werden kann.

@Bernd-Cyan-Penguin#128576 Eine Möglichkeit. Es dauert mitunter ein paar Minuten bis die Karte nach dem hinzufügen zur Wallet aktiviert ist. Wurde „bunq mastercard ist für Apple Pay bereit“ angezeigt?

Deswegen haben Amerikaner stark mit Akzeptanz zu kämpfen, weil viele Terminals nur das Magstripe-Datenformat via NFC verstehen, das in Europa inzwischen im Grunde ausgemustert ist. Deswegen ließt man in US-Medien häufig “Apple Pay now accepted” anstelle dass man einfach von Kontaktloszahlungen spricht.

@Frank-Maroon-Eagle#128689 Der Artikel spricht von EMV im Gegensatz zu Zahlungen mit Magnetstreifen. Ich habe von „Mag-stripe Mode of EMV“ gesprochen. (Gibt in den USA auch noch Magnetstreifen Kontaktlos ohne EMV.)
