What is the tax identification number?
The Tax Identification Number (TIN) consists of a series of 13 numbers (format: 99 99 999 999 999). The first digit is always 0, 1, 2 or 3. The French tax authority provides a TIN to all individuals with a tax liability in France.
Where can I find my tax identification number (NIF)?
The TIN does not appear on any official identification document (such as ID card or Passport). It can be found on the front page of the pre-populated income tax return and on the front page of the income tax, housing tax or property tax bill . A pre-filled tax return or tax notice may be associated with more than one person. In this case, the TIN of each taxpayer is shown in the same order as the information in the "Civil status" field of the document.

If you have no tax obligations in France
Minors do not have NIFs. On the other hand, as soon as they reach the age of 18 and if their parents are French taxpayers, they are identified in the tax administration's database, even if they have no tax obligation.
If you are in one of these cases, please send us the tax number of one of the tax filers in your household (eg your parents ).
If you are subject to tax in a country other than France, please refer to this link.
