Travel card not working Malawi

Hi there,

I am currently in Malawi.
I have tried withdrawing and paying with my MasterCard travel card, yet without success. I have activated the country, tried to switch it o world wide, tried different banks, nothing is working, I have tried with a VISA debit from other bank and no issue at all.
I get that the card holder does not allow the transaction or declined transaction.

Could please assist (also maybe the tech-support), because no cash here it gets really complicated..

@Mathieu-Purple-Lion#128802 Are you sure Mastercard is accepted at the ATM you are using? In Malawi, Visa has a higher acceptance than Mastercard: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g293810-i10033-k10418351-Is_Mastercard_accepted_at_ATMs-Malawi.html

@Mathieu-Purple-Lion#128802 I know that sometimes Malawian banks do not accept foreign cards, for some reason. This can even differ per day.

Have you tried Malawi National bank or Malawi Standard bank? Those almost always worked for me when I was in Malawi.

Also, were in Malawi are you? Sometimes cards are better accepted in the big cities than in the smaller villages.
