• Improve the card/ pin quality

Hi,

It’s been almost a year since I am with Bunq and I love everything about it.

I would like you to improve the quality of Maestro/Master Cards. After a year, the numbers on the card are almost gone. And in general, the card feels like one of the β€œtoy cards”.

Would love to experience a better quality.

Thank you for your work!

Maria

    Hey there,

Have I got news for you! πŸ˜„

Last december, we revamped our cards! You can check all about it in this annoucement 🌈

Top! Thanks for the update πŸ‘

        Hey Maria,

I still had a problem with my cards. Only recently joined :). The glue on the card holding it to the paper stuck to the ink so I had to clean it up to make the card readable.

I contacted support about this and the advice was to clean it up, they sent me a nice bar of chocolate to make up for my effort ;).

Still, the printing is likely to be gone way before 2022 when the card expires. I think that is something that could be improved :). By making the letters more bold and whiter.

Also, you really have to light it up well to see the account number etc. The letters are really thin and not the whitest white in the world :).

So those things could be improved in the next batch ;)

          Hi Sander,

We always appreciate feedback- so thanks for sharing this! Sounds like something we can take note of πŸ‘

          Have a nice weekend!

Hey guys! Im currently evaluating bunq, Revolut and N26 and i have to say that the bunq cards i just received feel like they are made out of a paperboard compared to Revolut and N26. The colors could also be more shiny/stronger.

On the other hand, i rarely use physical cards anyway, so maybe it doesnt matter so much as i have everything in my iPhone.

Recently I had to send a copy of my card to an authority, but I had to redo it, as on the scan (by a real scanner) the bank account number was not readable thus the employee. The quality of the card can indeed still be improved, especially all the letters there are printed on it. You can already see the scratch marks from all of the terminals it has been in and some letters/number are already fading. I do love the colourful front though, it's gorgeous!

I took a closer look at my bunq and ing card πŸ’³. I can't deny there is a difference in build quality. I think the only difference is that my ing card πŸ’³ has been laminated. This extra plastic layer protects the printing. But in my experience this layer is also the first thing that breaks down, at least at ING :)

For what ever reason I find that my bunq πŸ’³ feels nicer and till this day I have no trouble with the printing. But fair to say that I don't use my cards that often (I use mostly T&P).

To sum it up, the quality will improve it they laminate the cards (and use my new design πŸ˜‚)

                  @JohnDo#30752 What new design?

@JohnDo#30756 It really looks great, hope bunq will implement something like this! Thanks for the reply too.

Well, Revolut just launched their metal cards wink wink

@Rubyn-Pink-Puma#31741 I quote @Ali : "We looked at the metal passes a long time ago and decided not to do so. This is because the passes are so incredibly environmentally unfriendly that they do not suit us well. Moreover, there is still some hindrance in daily use (breakage, scratching, etc)." (original post was in Dutch)

@JohnDo#31745 Ah okay, thanks for the info!

To be honest, don’t see too much of a problem. I really hardly use my cards at all. I have Apple pay activated with both maestro and a MasterCard and most of the time use my phone or watch. For Android bunq has tap and pay available. Sometimes I even leave my wallet at home. No need for more expensive and better cards.

I agree that the card quality is just simply bad, it feels like hard carboard. Take a look at ing's new cards; no platic film on top, and still amazing looking. The bunq card has a very low dpi, and just doesn't feel premium at all.

I would personally go for a metal card option. Without any additional monthly costs, insurances or whatsoever (if its even possible, regarding the mastercard compliance guidelines). 'Just pay xx Euro and get your metal card' would probably be a way to offer this to people who'd like to have such a card (including me, I'd be willing to pay about 50 Euro for one card).

A metal card is form over function. It serves no purpose. However, the bunq cards look like Bart Smit loyalty cards. I get the rainbow thing, inclusivity and all, but it's just not a strong visual that you want to attach to a banking brand. It makes really poor use of color psychology. Look at the Monzo card. Solidly bright orange/red. That is something that pops out and speaks "this is different". In my opinion, bunq should follow this lead. It should decide on a brand color. The use of colors right now feels super random. The website, marketing, cards, app, nothing has a clear brand feel. Please tone it down. Focus

Heb net een nieuwe pas binnen. De oude was inderdaad niet meer te lezen. Merk wel dat het zwart op de achterzijde tegenwoordig minder zwart is. Ben benieuwd naar de inkt voor de naam/IBAN etc!
