  • More clarity on long-standing 'wishes'

Hi all,

Small piece of feedback from my side:

I often see topics that are turned into wishes. Some of these 'wishes' have been around for months (or even a year) and are highly anticipated. For example: the 'If this than that' or the 'Let's make a bunq store' wishes.

I understand that it can take a long time to actually make these wishes reality, but I sometimes feel there could be a bit more clarity on the status of certain wishes. The 'bunq store' wish has been out there for 9 months, but I have yet to see a decisive response from bunq whether this will happen, may happen but not anytime soon, or will not happen at all.

I find that leaving these highly anticipated wishes open for long duration of times lead to wishful thinking. Instead, I'd like it if bunq would give a bit more clarity whether these wishes are a priority or not, and update the topic accordingly. Of course it's possible to keep the topics open for more suggestions, but at least leave a comment saying if the wish will or won't happen anytime soon.

    Hi René,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing this feedback!

We try to be transparent when things are in fact possible, currently on our roadmap, etc.

We also like to keep all wishes a surprise ✨(and no one likes ruined surprises!) It's also great to see what wishes are popular among the community and still wanted over time.

Just be assured that received wishes are acknowledged and taken into account 💪.

Thanks again for being such a supportive and active Together member 😄🌈.

    Cheers!

      Thanks for your response Elise!

The 'bunq store' topic triggered me to ask this question. I appreciate and love the transparancy of bunq and of course I understand you want to keep certain new features a surprise. However, since it has been 9 months since the topic was started and we've had bunq update 6 and 7 since then, it would be nice to have a slightly more decisive answer / update on topics like that.

Untill then I will be patiently waiting till I can buy myself a bunq mug ;)

        Thanks René!

Your feedback has been noted and I'll be sure to let you know if we have any updated news in regard to that topic 👍

        Cheers & happy Monday 😄

I agree with the poster and think this is a more general issue - not only concerning the store.

I understand the reasoning behind keeping all ongoing work on features a surprise, but it also feels a little disrespectful to all the bunqers who want you to succeed and put lots of effort into thinking along, giving tons of feedback, and advertising for you to their friends and families.

Perhaps you might want to add labels like ‘not planned’/‘contemplating’/‘on the roadmap’ or similar ones like that. You don’t need to give lots of info and of course no dates, but for long lasting wishes, I think, that could be a nice way to keep the surprise element while not keeping us hanging in the dark forever.

Being transparent requires communication and I think that could be improved.

            Hello Lars,

We do indeed like keeping things under wraps so that we can keep surprising our users, however, your suggestion is an interesting one! Thank you!

This is a complex subject... I can see why bunq isn't keen on sharing much details of even a status:

              - bunq is under close watch by competitors. You dont to give competitors a heads up on the things you are working on.

              - even if a wish had the status 'in progress' of something it would give users a false sense of hope because bunq can come to the conclusion (even after almost finishing a feature) that isn't viable. That is part of being an innovator.

So, it is a difficult thing to give users more intell without disappointing them or give a competitor an advantage.

But, if you read between the lines... I think it would be very safe to say that bunq isn't working on a ITTT feature and simply let third parties like Flow handle this one.

I like being surprised by exciting new features. However, you don’t have to surprise me with requests like; having the possibility to have multiple users on business accounts, increasing the amount of data that is in the transaction description field. These feel more like omissions that, obviously, bunq has to research and plan, but implementing these has no ‘tadaa’-value. Right now, with certain requests, it’s basically a frustrating period where users don’t know if they can expect issues to be resolved ending with: “Surprise! We did it!”.

Valid points. My personal view is that most of the ideas that are posted on the forum are public anyway. Competitors can read these and can act if they see any fantastic ideas, regardless of bunq's choice. However, if bunq has some very special features coming up, they definitely shouldn't spill the beans.

The feedback I provided only applies to some topics that have been around for a while, yet have no decisive answer. The IFTTT is an example of these. You said it's safe to say bunq isn't working on this, and if that's true it could be worth updating the post saying it's not on the current roadmap.

Overall, I do agree with your first line: it's a very difficult subject and definitely one that makes it hard to please everyone.

I agree with this. It's cool to be surprised with a very nice feature, but on the other hand it's nice to know that bunq is working on providing a better overview in one of the menus.

Just pooping out an idea here: Potentially there could be a separation in roadmaps. An 'open roadmap' that's visible for the public, containing features like bug fixes and 'providing a better overview of the x menu', and a 'closed roadmap' for 'surprises'.

Yes that would be a good idea!

                      Check https://monzo.com/blog/2018/05/22/making-monzo-better/ for example.

this would be awesome as well! https://twitter.com/MakingMonzo/status/1003934702187827200

Yeah exactly what I meant Sven. Obviously the ‘surprise’ features and things competitors can’t know will still be hidden.
