• N26 & bunq

I am using N26 but I recently came accross bunq and I am trying to see what they do different

So, the most important for me is the free global transactions and bunq does it. But, when you try to compare the two banks, it mentions that N26 charges 1.7% which is a lie. Only the n26 business and n26 standard charges this 1.7% but not n26 you and n26 metal.

Its either a mistake or another marketing trick of bunq.

What i want from new internet banks is honesty, not benefits. Traditional banks are not honest.

So guys, please do invest on honesty and leave aside aggressive marketing.

    Hi @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133234

    Could you perhaps elaborate where you found this information?

      @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133234 Where exactly is the 1.7% mentioned?

        Go to Compare feature at the bottom of the front page, select n26 you and you can see it

          @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133237

          I'm doing my very best but I can't find it?

            How can I post a screenshot?

              At the bottom of the FRONTPAGE bunq.com, it says Compare Us

                @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133240

                Tap and hold in the text entry.

                  @Tim#133238 I found it under bunq.com/en
                  Other languages don't show it

                    @pbruins84#133242 @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133240

                    Ahh yes I just found the same on the EN website version. Wasn't available in my native language NL website version. Seems indeed like the information about the costs of withdrawals in foreign currency is incorrect regarding N26 You. I suggest to report this on report@bunq.com. I'm sure this is just a mistake and not aggressive/false marketing.

                      Nevermind.. going through the forum i see its a dutch german war.. and i am just a poor greek.. so.. who cares?

                        @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133244

                        Not sure what you're on about here. If you want the incorrect information to be fixed you're free to report it on report@bunq.com. Regarding background and nationality, everyone is welcome on Together.

                        καλή νύχτα :)

                          @Nikolaos-Lime-Lion#133234 I also doubt this was done in bad faith. They will likely fix it. By the way I have both (bunq and N26 You) as my accounts. My 2 cents:

                          Even thou I think N26 is technically good enough for basic usage, they made various decisions in the past that stained their image very very badly. I fortunately never had problems myself, apart from some verbal fighting to get something out of their insurance package... But I know lots of people that had. A very good friend had his account cancelled simply because they couldn't bother fixing a bug with their new ID re-verification method (somehow they asked lots of customers to reverify their ID even after 2 years of using their services). N26 was his only account, he was in the middle of his holidays and you can imagine the hassle caused. This incident triggered me to search for alternatives, and this is how I landed @ bunq.

                          Nowadays I can't think of any other bank that offer so many power user features. bunq's API alone is enough of a reason for me to set them as my main account. So many possibilities! Even for non-devs, there are some unique things in bunq: each sub account has its own IBAN (instead of this pointless Spaces thing of N26), dual PIN for card payments using different accounts... All in all I think it's better to spend 7.99 on these than 9.99 on some insurance package that you will have to fight very hard to make use of (from personal experience). Unless you're an early adopter and still pays 4.90 for N26... in which case I would say get both, just like I do :-)

                          So if you're a power user I strongly suggest trying them out. It's free for the first month anyways, so you can always stop your subscription if you don't see much added value.

                            To be really honest, its my first day here. New in bunq, not new in internet banking.

                            I had lots of questions & of course I wrote them on the chat support. And then they keep feeding me with links links links. Not an actual answer but links from their website. But I went through the website.. this is how my questions have been created..

                            Anyway, I also find that Dutch banks keep charging for keeping an account in general. Dont really like it.. they still have our money to play with. Its not about adding value.. they all pretty much offer similar stuff nowadays. Most important is to have money, not managing them..

                            Anyway, i think that benefits-wise, bunq does offer more than n26 but again I am on their forum.. I wouldnt expect to read bad reviews..

                              Hi 👋🏼 Nikos,

                              Well spotted. I know this page exist for quite a while when it was still “hidden”, in fact.. I’m still not able to see that option. 🤷🏻‍♂️

                              Personally, I would recommend bunq to stay away from doing comparisons themselves. That often doesn’t come across strong 💪. And I see that the comparisons are missing some nuances and it is a selective comparison.

                              For example: according to bunq you pay also a fixed fee of €3,5 for non euro ATM withdrawals at Rabobank. But that is half the story, because depending on your member at Rabobank this can also be €2 or even €0. So this quick and dirty way of comparing stuff is a bit tricky.

                              Edited:
                              Hmm, I now see they refer to Rabobank Basispakket. My bad. But my point stands. This is very tricky...

                              Leave comparing stuff up to independent parties.

                                @JohnDo#133249 Bij een betaling in vreemde valuta laten ze de besparing met ZeroFX ook zien vergeleken met 3% opslag terwijl je bij de meeste banken maar rond de 1% hoeft te betalen.
                                Ik vind het daar ook een zwaktebod om dan met de ene bank te vergelijken die 3% rekent.

                                  N26 or bunq?
                                  Oh that’s easy. bunq!!!!
                                  I do have an N26 account and til now I’ve had no major problems with N26.
                                  I went for a premium account mainly for the extra spaces in the hope that N26 would eventually expand the features of spaces. They haven’t. And the current features are just absolutely useless for me and at 10 euros a month just too expensive. So I’ve canceled the premium subscription effective in January 2020.
                                  bunq meets all my needs. And even though I find 10 euro a month fee absolutely in order, I’ve opted w the bunq pack at 5 euros a month. The 25 accounts are awesome with IBAN functions are awesome. The automation possibilities between all accounts is awesome. Dual pin is awesome. Assigning cards to any account is awesome. And the list of AWESOME features just goes on forever. N26 doesn’t even come close.
                                  for me....bunq forever....
                                  🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😯

                                    @Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#133376 I‘ve also closed my N26 account. insert shredder sound

                                      Haha grappig. Ik heb ook een N26 rekening geprobeerd en was in het begin heel enthousiast, maar ik snap de hype niet meer zo. Lyrische recensies op internet dat N26 een goeie neo-bank is met 3,5 miljoen klanten en 10.000 klanten in Nederland maar ook ik ben van mening dat Bunq in meerdere opzichten zo veel beter is dan N26 qua gebruik. Maar ja, veel mensen gaan voor een gratis N26 rekening en daardoor hebben ze veel klanten.

                                        Heb toevallig mijn N26 account ingeruild voor een Moneyou Go account. Ook gratis met bankpas en zelfs met rente op alle “potjes”. Naast Bunq een prima bank :)
