• Netto footprint saving greencard?

Hey what is the netto CO2 emission saving for the greencard? I mean production and durancy. Leaving out the trees planted and with the trees planten.

In short how much better is it for our planet in hard numbers.

Reine Spekulation.

Savings? Negative, I'd bet. An increase in emissions, that is.

@Joeri-#135942 In short how much better is it for our planet in hard numbers.

Safe to assume it's worse. For instance, steel is produced at temperatures around 1500°C. PVCA, as used in plastic bank cards? Maybe a tenth of that? A fifth? Just a fraction.

And that's not even taking into account the mining of iron ore (oversimplifying a bit: for oil, you'll drill a hole and let it flow - whereas iron ore has to be extracted rather laboriously).

@Joeri-#135942 The best way to donate to the cause is to discard the Green Card and just donate the €99 to a cause that plants trees without a metal card.

They will plant 99 trees for that amount, whereas the Green Card will cost you €99 and will give you 0 trees. To achieve the same result with the card, you would have to spend €9.900, which you are likely to spend on things that will cost more than 99 trees.

So at the bottom the Green Card has a negative impact on emissions all together. But hey, with the card everyone will know you support the cause!
