  • What’s the point of having the Travel Card?

Hi everyone, I’m trying to understand how can I benefit form the Travel Card.

As far as I understand, it has zero exchange rates, which is great. However, in order to have money on this card I have to top up explicitly using a bank transfer or credit card. This might lead to fees of my current bank (+ exchange rate if my balance different) or by credit card companies. On top of that, bunq takes fee as well for each top up.

What am I missing? What’s the point using the Travel Card if I still have to pay fees in order to load money to it?

I have TransferWise account already, what’s the point

@Rom-Grey-Wolf#145704 You only pay fees when you load the card using another card. When you top up your card using a normal SEPA transfer (or iDEAL or Sofort) it's free.
Your TransferWise account comes with a debit card, and the Travel Card is a credit card. Some terminals/merchants only accept credit cards.

@pbruins84#145718 The problem with bank transfers is the exchange rate. My main bank account (where most of my money) is in USD so I’ll pay unappealing exchange rate to send it

@Rom-Grey-Wolf#145733 Then you don‘t belong to the target group for the Travel Card. For someone whose main account is in EUR, bank transfers to bunq are often free of charge.

I see. I thought it works similarly to the way the Curve card works. Thanks anyway for clarifying.
