@Robijn#145737 YNAB does not have a direct integration of bunq. They would have to build that, but they do not seem to care much about European banks in general.
I'm a YNAB user myself and do like it, but I'm currently trying to use the many bank accounts at bunq as a replacement for all the budgets. I'm not quite there yet, but I' getting there I think.
Thankfully I'm a long time YNAB user and so still pay the old subscription pricing. If I were new to them, I don't know if I would pay 84$/year for that

    Allright, thanks a lot! I think I will start with the 'many bank accounts' too. YNAB has some good free content for budgeting skills so I think I will use that for stepping up my budget game.

      @Robijn#145748 Yes that's a good way to start I think. Also try to not overthink it, i.e. simplify your budgets. I'm kind of "spoilt" by YNAB and have a lot of budgets that I now try to fit into the bunq account model.
      For example, instead of having a budget for your mobile bill and one your water bill etc. you could have one account where both take their money from (if that fits your needs of course)

            I just use Wesselt‘s bunq2ynab scripts and it‘s actually a very smooth experience. I tried to budget with accounts at bunq, but I switched back to a single account because YNAB works better for me.

                @Roeshimi#145804 I let it run on a server of mine. It can listen to callbacks from bunq and then sync on-demand. So when I do a card payment (or if there is any other kind of event on my account), it will then start the syncing process automatically. You can also just do manual one-off syncs, though, if for some reason you can't or don't want to listen for the callbacks.

                Works well, and not really complicated in the grand scheme of things, but probably too hard to setup for the average user. Hopefully this will change at some point.

                    @Jakob#145806 I guess I misunderstood how this tool works. I thought it would also match transactions and categories and you would not have anything to do at all. But it seems to me that it "only" imports transactions from bunq into YNAB and you have to categorize them yourself.

                      @Roeshimi#145813 YNAB will remember the categories after the first time so in day to day use there‘s seldom a need to categorize a transaction. When you synchronize for the first time, then indeed it can be a bit cumbersome.

                        @RvdH#145805 The bunq2ynab version used in your repo seems to be pretty old. Is there a proper way to get the latest version of bunq2ynab into the deployment package (sorry if that's a noobish question).

                          @Robijn#145748 I used to use bunq for budgeting too a few years ago. Then I discovered ynab and ever since then I am in love with it. Especially with the expansion toolkit for ynab ynab is by far the best way to budget I have ever encountered. You can’t compare this to budgeting with bunq at all.

                          FYI you can try out ynab for free for 4 months. There is a special link you need to sign up to (the standard link only gives you 34 days). Just google For stacksocial ynab.

                              In eerste instantie was het idee van YNAB om handmatig alles in te voeren. De theorie hierachter is dat je je nog bewuster wordt van elke aankoop en daardoor meer grip krijgt op je giraal geld. Tegenwoordig hebben ze auto-import (koppelen van rekening), maar de meningen zijn hierover verdeeld.

                              Wat betreft het meerdere accounts beheren als budget potjes, daarmee wordt het reconcilen heel erg veel werk. Ik zou dan ook tegen adviseren. YNAB werkt als een 'schil' om je bank heen. Het idee is dat je niet op je rekening kijkt, maar op de YNAB app of er nog ruimte in je budget is, niet of er nog geld op de rekening staat. Daarom kan YNAB zelfs het beste gebruikt worden met één rekening en één spaarrekening. Ik zou je echt adviseren om de starters guide op de website of de youtube serie te kijken voor je begint.

                              Persoonlijk zou ik niet over gaan op auto import ook als de integratie er wel komt. In het verleden heb ik gewerkt met dingen als Spendee of AFAS en auto import heeft toch niet hetzelfde effect als handmatig invoeren.

                                @crclassen#145851 Chris, I do agree with you that if you classify each transaction individually, this is even better.

                                However that doesn't mean you have to enter every transaction manually. They way I have setup my YNAB integration is that whenever there is a transaction, the transaction itself is automatically imported into YNAB (real-time), but left as 'uncategorized'. Then YNAB gives me a popup that I need to classify a transaction and when I do I immediately see the effect on my budget.
