We recently discovered that fraudsters at other banks were abusing Apple Pay transactions for bunq.me and top up.
Because these transactions are not protected by 3D secure and liability shift, fraudsters are able to charge back transactions via their other bank, meaning in the case of bunq.me we had to reverse payments you had already received.
To keep all of our bunqers safe, we have therefore decided to remove Apple Pay for bunq.me payments as well as topping up.
Of course, if something changes with Apple Pay’s fraud protection, we will re-evaluate.
The safety and the privacy of your data
Nothing is more important to us than keeping your account safe and your data private. That’s why when we found out about this scam, we took immediate action to prevent any further fraudulent activity from taking place.
We’re still aiming to provide convenient payment options for bunq.me, but we will not be making it easier for fraudsters to take advantage of others.
For the time being, you can continue to use any of the other convenient top-up methods to deposit or send money to a bunq.me link. 👌
