  • Schedule/automate direct debit

I try to budget my money very strict over a multitude of accounts. That means that I have a fixed amount every month on my bills account. I receive my salary at the end of the month. The ‘annoyance’ is that some companies charge a couple of days before I receive my salary which means there is no money available and I have to manually pay the bill a couple of days later once I receive my salary.

It would be great to automate this. So basically, change the direct debit date. (This should be within the 14-day range, and also on a user's own risk)

    Hi 👋 @Bramboe#151851

What is actually that you would want to automate? A fair amount of companies already give you a choice about which day you would prefer the direct debit to come in. Besides, bunq has no control over when the companies send the direct debit and collect their money. bunq actually already uses the maximum period of 5 days to allow you to manually accept the debit or when there are insufficient funds to still be able to add funds and retry the payment.

Another way is to budget one month in advance (at least for direct debits), so there's always enough money in the accounts. That what I'm doing myself so direct debits can always go through.

@Tim#151852 Thanks for replying. Basically 'automate' that a bill will be automatically be paid once the amount if available. Another option could actually be that there is a back-up account when the amount is not available on the selected account. And yes, I know I can add a buffer.
