My experience when changing my bank account number at Belastingdienst:
On their website I read:
So I did. Time frames:
Sending this form to change it: 10 October 2017Dagtekening bevestigingsbrief: 13 november 2017Ontvangst brief: 17 november 2017Total time between sending form and confirmation: about 4 weeks
So I thought everything was arranged. Apparently not. In the confirmation letter it said:
No mention of Motorrijtuigenbelasting. Should have been a red flag to me.
And, it also said receiving money (uitbetaling) only. Even though their website said ābetalen en ontvangenā. They also mix up the confusing words āuitbetalenā en ābetalenā.
I did not notice this until I received another letter yesterday:
What bank account number they tried was not mentioned in the letter, so that didnāt help. Thanks.
Also, after double checking, no denied payment requests were received or displayed at all at Bunq.
Then, after calling De Belastingdienst I found out they still had my old (ABN AMRO) bank account number registered for their debit collection.
Apparently the form I sent was indeed for receiving money only.
There are 2 options to change the bank account number for your existing debit authorisation:
Option 1. Send a form:
Call BelastingTelefoon Auto:https://www.belastingdienst.nl/wps/wcm/connect/bldcontentnl/standaard_functies/prive/contact/belastingtelefoon_bellen/belastingtelefoon_autoRequest the form on the phoneIt will take 14 days to receive itFill form and send using return envelopIt will take another 14 days to process it
In other words. The old school way. Thatās not why I moved to Bunq ;-)
Option 2: Using Dutch Switch Service (Overstapservice):
Using the Overstapservice I was told the Belastingdienst will automatically change the bank account number for your existing authorisation. No forms or new authorisation needed, because the Overstapservice itself is the authorisation.
For me this did not go as planned (yet):
Date requested at Bunq: 31 Oct 2017Date activated: 24 November 2017Processing time needed for Overstapservice: 25 days (3,5 weeks)
In the meantime, the Belastingdienst already processed their debit request. Calling them I learned:
Belastingdienst setup debit requests: Every 18th of the monthBelastingdienst executing debit request: Every 27th of the monthReceived letter on failed debit: 7 december 2017 (10 days later)Date mentioned letter of denied request: 14 december 2017 (7 days in the future)
Gotta love paperwork. So they set up my debit request with my old bank account number.
I was assured by Bunq support that the Belastingdienst did in fact receive my bank account change through the Overstapservice. So this month (17 december 2017) it should be processed as well.
Hope this helps anyone figuring out what is going on with the change request for their Belastingdienst bank account number.
TLDR:
Overstapservice takes approximately 4 weeks to succesfully processBelastingdienst processes new debit requests at 18th of the month and executes that bank account number at 27thMake sure to time cancelling your old bank account after the next 17th of the month after your Overstapservice is processed, to make sure Belastingdienst processed it as well.
