Parental roles and responsibilities for co-managing a childâs account
- The first parent confirms their relationship and responsibilities to the second parent when sending the invitation. The second parent simply accepts the invitation to join and share in managing the account.
- The first parent remains the main account holder and takes care of setting up and managing access.
- Once the second parent completes identity verification and accepts the invitation, both parents will have equal access to manage the childâs account.
- No extra documents are needed - everything is based on the first parentâs confirmation.
- Both parents agree to work together and follow the shared responsibilities for co-managing the account.
More details on the co-managing responsibilities can be found in the Terms & Conditions.
Is my child's account a separate Personal one?
Yes, it is! After your Personal account has been verified, you can create an additional and separate one for your child. Despite this being a separate account, you'll maintain complete access through your own Personal account. Keep in mind that a distinct email address and/or phone number should be used for your child's account.
This account can be set up with bunq Free, Core, Pro, or Elite plans. For children under 18, Pro is free, while Elite costs âŹ9/month. Features depend on the chosen plan, but age-restricted options like Easy Investments and Finn may not be available.

Good to know
- A proof of relation is asked when the names of the child and the legal guardian/parent aren't the same.
- The parent should have a Personal account in order to give the child permission to have an account. The child can choose any of our plans (further info on our plans can be found here)
- You as a parent have full overview and access to your child's account.
- No minimum age is required. However, the child should have a phone number or email address, if they want to access their own account.
- When your child turns 18 years old we break the connection so they can have their own personal account , provided the account has its own alias.
