As explained by bunq in “The math behind bunq SuperGreen 🌳” and discussed in several topics, not everyone will plant enough trees in two years to become CO2 free.
How many trees you need depend on your carbon footprint, which you can calculate (to some proximity) using one of many CO2 footprint calculators on the internet. How far you’re progressing towards that amount of trees as a bunq SuperGreen member then depends on how much you spend using Card payments.
My idea for the bunq app would be for users to set up their tree target by either filling out what is their average annual footprint or the number of trees they need to plant. The default target can be 576 trees (good enough to capture 7 tons of CO2 from the earth’s atmosphere, as that is the average carbon footprint for an EU citizen), but if users calculate their own footprint they could then set that as a target.
After entering a target, a progress bar would be added to the Trees screen to visualise how far along the user is towards his goal. Or by how far they passed their target. Similar to, of preferably much more awesome than the mock-up below.
To elaborate a little further on this:
New users could be encouraged to set their personal Trees counter target with a banner.
An Award could be introduced for when the user makes it to that goal and (similar to Apple Watch activity awards) additional awards could be achieved for making 200%. 300% or even more as that would mean a user also makes a random other person CO2 free, and how cool would that be?!
