Increase the expiration date of plastic cards

Hi,

I was thinking; the plastic cards expire after four years, the metal card after six years. My plastic cards will expire in a few months, but are still in good condition. Wouldn't it be possible to increase the expiration for new plastic cards as well? I don't know if this is a mastercard restriction, but it would be great if it's possible.

Hey @Mathijs, this is a great idea and thank you for the suggestion. We have looked at this in the past as it fits neatly into our values of saving money and sustainability. I will ensure that this is carried to the right product owner so we evaluate again if this is now possible.

Especially with the dynamic rotating CVC feature, the expiry date is not the strongest security detail anyways IMO. The card is practically worthless for someone who finds it, because the CVC is only in the app and they don’t have the pin, so a thief or dishonest finder would not be able to use it in most online shops.
I am all for increasing the longevity of the card, especially on plastic cards, as they will just end up in landfill eventually :(
