  • Splitting a bill and share via Whatsapp

Hi bunq,

I love the new UI! Great to see that updates keep coming. Due to the new UI, I started to use the split bill functionality and I think we might be able to improve it further.

Situation: I paid for 7 of my friends (total bill €376), equal shares. We use Whatsapp in a group, so easiest is to just send a link in this whatsapp group. Benefit: I don't have to manually click/find all the members in the bunq UI.

Problem with current 'split' implementation: I can share a (whatsapp) link with the same amount as I paid, or I share SMS/email with a calculated splitted amount. I want bunq to calculate the split and then create a link for whatsapp so my friends can pay me: 376/7=53.71.

Proposed solution: I think the button 'Next: share link' in the 'split the bill' interface should be: 'Next: define split'. If I just wanted to request the same amount, I probably would just use the 'request' feature instead of the 'split' feature.

Thanks!

    Hi Berend,

Thanks for your kind words- it's always great to get feedback and ideas for improvements!

This does like a nice way to implement WhatsApp with the 'Split the bill' feature 👍

Consider it a wish & enjoy your afternoon!

You can try to create multiple links for splitting the bill

I have the same issue, yesterday I needed to split a bill with 2 bunq users, 3 peeps on whatsapp and myself(on bunq) I requested the money manually since I could not figure out how to do it.

I tried to convert the WhatsAppers to bunq of course(one did) but for people who do not want to it would be a great feature to combine multiple request types and send them out different ways

Workaround: you can create a payment request to yourself (use an email that's not registered to you in your own address book, or even a non-existent one.) After creating the payment request, open it and you can "share link". There's even a WhatsApp logo there!

This is surprisingly complicated for what's the #1 use case for splits.
