I switched to bunq because it was the best banking app I have ever seen. I have tried many banks before and bunq seemed to be the only one that puts user experience first without any bullsh*t. When bunq raised their prices I wasnāt happy, but I thought it was worth paying extra for something I enjoyed using so much. Then the whole tree thing started and now their focus seems to be to upsell me on their āgreenā products. There are a lot of companies and even banks that do this kind of greenwashing and thatās fine by me. In my opinion you can āsaveā by eating less meat or something. But hey, as long as I can keep using the great product that I am paying a premium for does not suffer from it thatās all good.
But now with this V3 update, the main focus of this app seems to be the promotion of bunq and all the good it is supposedly doing for me and āusā. On the main screen of the app, the first things I see are Money saved, co2 saved and time saved. Why? When I open my bank app I care about my balances, transactions and cards. Besides that money saved and time saved are misleading. Money saved adds up all the money I may have saved because of zerofx, massinterest. Who cares? Bunq is one of the most expensive bank accounts in NL and I did not choose it because it was somehow the cheaper option. If you want to show me how much I saved, show me how much I put into my savings account this month. Thatās it. CO2 saved is even more ridiculous: it show how many trees were planted, which is 0 and will remain 0 in my case of course. Whatās the point of this? Am I being guilt-tripped into upgrading my account to save the planet?
Many people have already commented on ridiculousness of the us tab and the plus button so I am not going to repeat all that again. Bunq, please start putting your users and customer first again. I donāt want to have to look for another bank, but I will if your product keeps getting worse.
