• How to downgrade your app to V2 on Android

Let me start: I've been following bunq since the almost beginning and have been using it for a long time now. Both personally, and for my company. I tried to get many people to bunq and loved the features it gave. Heck, I even applied for a job at bunq. Unfortunately though, with the recent changes and way of handeling things - I'm really considering changing back to my previous bank.

But, for the time being: before I make a definitive decision, I want to keep using bunq. Because of that, I've downgraded my app to V2. I was hopeful when upgrading, but the (nightmares?) from the feedback thread are unfortunately the same for me.

This is how you can downgrade your app to V2 on Android:
- Remove the app.
- Download the APK (https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/bunq/bunq-bank-of-the-free/bunq-bank-of-the-free-13-15-2-release/bunq-bank-of-the-free-13-15-2-2-android-apk-download/).
- Download APKMirror's bundle installer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apkmirror.helper.prod).
- Install the APK downloaded using the link above.
- Disable auto-update in the Play Store for the bunq app.
- Profit.

There is a disclaimer, though. This is ofcourse an unofficial APK download of a bank app (!). I wouldn't recommend it, if I haven't had so much issues with the bunq V3 release.

First useful thing I find in the Bunq v3 app 😅👍

Does anyone know how to do that for iOS?

@Maria-Maroon-Panda-3543144833#172486 Unfortunatly though, I don't have iOS - but I don't think it's that easy as on Android. Heck, I don't know if it's possible at all: mainly because, as far as I know, the updates are so streamlined through the app store.

Maybe we can get an official way to go back ? I promise I will update as soon as all major issues are gone but I really need 'normal' access to my business account, the account of my wife, the accounts of my children.

@Marcus-Navy-Penguin#172528 That's my preferred way to, ofcourse. That's also the main reason why I'm holding back moving to my old bank and thus setup this short how-to. This in the hope that they revert it.

Ook dit word verwijderd ben ik bang..

@JeBuiten#172552 We should be and stay hopeful and believe in the power of bunq. Recognise that something terribly happened, move back and re-think the strategy. And, get something official up-and-running as an alternative on this thread :).

I actually did the same and reverted the app to v2, I think within five minutes of trying the v3 version. I couldn't find accounts/features which for an app that handles money is a nightmare. I'm so happy I reverted back to v2 but I'm just hopping they don't turn it off server side to force people to update 😓

@Wouter0100#172558 I still believe in BUNQ but the way this update was forced to all customers is not the way we are used to with traditional banking. I moved all my official accounts to Bunq in the last years and the Bunq App is the only way to access my money and bank details. It would be better to make a beta public available for the crowd and let customers choose when they are ready to switch. At this moment (today) I was not ready and the impact of this app in my personal and my business situation is big. I did not choose to switch today. Althought it was my own mistake to let my smartphone update automatically. I really didn't expect this.

Banking is a serious thing. I pay for my 4 bunq accounts (3 personal and 1 business). Serious business should have serious banking. Unfortunally I cannot say this update was serious.

But........... I still believe in BUNQ

Can anyone recommend another bank in the Netherlands? I need to switch everything. Tired of bunq and their changes that are not customer-friendly, but rather designed to keep developers happy it seems...

@MarijeCarey#172486 Unfortunately not possible without either a) jailbreak and copy of the app OR b) an unsigned .ipa provided by bunq

@Andrew-Indigo-Quokka#172612 Knab looks like a nice alternative

@Andrew-Indigo-Quokka#172612 Let's keep it on-topic and only discuss reverting back to the second-last release :). Switching to a different bank isn't relevant to this topic. We don't want this topic to get closed because we go far off-topic. Thanks!

@Wouter0100#172480 Erstaunlich das dieser Thread noch lebt.Man kennt ja die Kritikfähigkeit von bunq...

@----#172623 Please keep it in English, especially if you mention me. I don't understand German.

@Wouter0100#172620 Sure...sorry... but I do think it is still somewhat relevant as bunq should be aware that this new v3 is not working for people. An official switch back to v2 would obviously allow me to reconsider my decision to leave.

@Wouter0100#172629 People often speak in their own language here because of that translate button you see in the upper left corner

@Andrew-Indigo-Quokka#172631 No worries! Thanks for your response. I think they're already quite aware of the criticism received in the official feedback thread. :)
