  • Sharing requests via Whatsapp is not possible anymore

Deze functie eruit halen is juist een reden om Tikkie te gaan gebruiken.

I don't understand why it is considered easier by bunq to share only via SMS or email than by a generic link which takes you to the OS's share menu. Can a bunq insider please explain the reasoning behind this?

I loved the request option, because via bunq me I can’t add a description or something. So a lot of my friends are paying me via the bunq me link, but I don’t know where it is for

There is a bug in the iOS app (version 8.0.0) that allows you to send a shared request anyways:

        1. Make a payment request as usual, and select one of your bank accounts as the recipient.
        2. Right before sending the request, swipe the screen to the right a little bit, and let go.
        3. You can now share the link.

(I already reported it to bunq, so enjoy it while you can 😜)

        Proof:

          @mathijsb#26574 Nice. Thanks for sharing

@mathijsb#26574 Nice this bug actually works. Don’t know what is more stupid, removing that feature or having a bug that allows us to use that feature. I really don’t want to hate on bunq because I do love them but stuff like this I don’t get. Same with hiding the description field behind a more options button which literally is as big as the description field. So why even hide it. This is so stupid how does this make the app simpler and cleaner.

It makes a request pretty useless if you can't send it via WhatsApp or a link (in my opinion)...

Can't wait for them to re-add it.

@mathijsb#26574 OMG. This actually works 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

                Thank you Mathijs!

@mathijsb#26574 I also reported this a couple of days ago but it doesn't seem to work on all devices though🙂.

It's interesting to call the solution 'simple' (and I'm disregarding the lack of share buttons here):

When I currently want to share a request to be paid I have to follow the next steps:
                    1. click "request"
                    2. enter amount
                    3. click "choose recipient" (note that picking the recipient account, or payee, is not top of mind with anyone who wants to be paid. what is top of mind for the customer is the people I want to ask money from)
                    4. click 'my accounts' (I was selecting the recipient account in which to receive my money, right?)
                    5. select the account
                    6. the resulting overview shows me two of my accounts: 1. a standard account that I did not select and which I will receive the money in and my other personal bank account, which I just selected. To make a long story short: it seems I did not select the recipient in the beginning, but I selected the account I want to send a request to.
                    7. Now, if I don't have the person who I want to request money from saved as a favorite bank account, visible in "recents or in my contacts, then I cannot ask for money before going through the tedious flow of adding either a phone number or a bank account in my faves.
                    9. Assuming I have gone through the tedious flow of manually adding someone's non-bunq bank account, when I now select the recipients I want to ask money from I see an error that I can only make requests to bunq accounts, phone numbers and email addresses. So most people who are in the favorites list or recent list cannot be selected, yet they are on the top of the list, while the phone contacts are at the bottom of the list.

This is not "simple". This is bunq re-using elements they should not re-use, leading to a confusing UX. This is bunq assuming that you only ever want to request money from someone who is in your phone contacts. This is bunq assuming I want to give them access to my phone contacts (for the sake of this post I enabled it, but I minimize access to my contacts for all apps that don't strictly need it). This is bunq assuming the other banks don't exist and that most people request money from other bunq users.

                    Now let's compare Tikkie:
                    1. hit +
                    2. enter the amount
                    3. add description
                    4. click on 'share via whatsapp' functionality
                    5. select the whatsapp contact(s)/group(s)
                    6. done.

Tikkie works and is simple and the only thing you're going to achieve with your current limiting approach is that people use your product less instead of more. Is this how you think you can win?

Amaze me with features that competing apps cannot offer. Provide me with more insights than tikkie. Stop pushing that overengineered bunq system that tracks what individual bunq user still owes me money from requests. Go a level higher and expose the average 'time to pay' per iban. Tell me who I am resending requests to. Stop designing for the end state where everyone is a bunq user and start designing for the end state where bunq is one of many. You guys are not stepping up your game.

What you want by pressing the request button is to create a link like bunq.me/username/amount and be able to share this link through WhatsApp (or other messenger app).

I really like the bunq.me functionality, but I should be easier to share this link with an amount of money.

The new Pay and Request buttons are terrible. Why is it when you press pay you have to fill small chunks of information in separate pages, then at the end you see a summary of what you just filled in. And when you are at the last step you cant even change certain things if you make a mistake. Say you entered an incorrect amount, you then have to go back 2 steps, change it, and then continue to the next steps. it's so counter-intuitive.

Just give me one page where i can enter, amount, recipient, paying account and a description.

Please fix this asap and listen to your users!

@Tamer-Navy-Owl#26545 En die link was voor bunqers ook al gewoon beschikbaar. Ze hebben er dus een feature uitgehaald i.p.v. gegeven

@KevinK#26912 Thanks for this workaround Kevin, really nice to see that a workaround is available for now! :P

Funny is bunq says they removed that feature to keep the app simple but truth is they did not even remove that feature from the app code. So how exactly does it make the app cleaner and more simple?

@Tobias-Teal-Panther#26972 It does make it cleaner for the bunqers itself, at least with most improvements, an improvement like this isn't that cleaning up the app in my opinion. bunq is not out to make the app smaller (in MB) for example on such a small scale.

@Diesse-Cyan-Jaguar#26985 A big fat button with "share request" is much cleaner and gives a much simpler, better and more flexible experience than the SMS/email-only like-it's-1999 situation we have now.

@Diesse-Cyan-Jaguar#26985 I see that you agree by the way :)

I’m happy with the update except for deleting the url sharing feature to WhatsApp. Please bring this feature back. In the meantime i will install and use Tikkie.

Although bunq.me is great, please bring back sharing the link. Sometimes you are in a group on whatsapp and you do not have all contacts added in your contact list. bunq.me is fine to use, but can’t add a description... now payments come into my bank and it’s impossible to know why that amount is payed to me
