• Only Bunq account

Has anyone tried moving to bunq completely from a traditional bank like ABN or ING? How has the experience been. Did you face any challenges especially if you are planning to get a mortgage for a house etc?? For me bunq is a secondary account but now I am paying for bank costs in 2 places and I really like bunq :)

Hey waarschijnlijk ben je Nederlands omdat je van abn en rabobank wilt switchen als het waren naar bunq ?

I'm on bunq only, and am having a blast :P. Don't have a mortgage (have a rental) though. Last time I had a mortgage it wasnt a problem; most of the mortgage suppliers dont have any restrictions except if you get the mortgage directly from the banks themselves. A few years ago those mortgages were less optimal than one of the many other suppliers.

I’m basically bunq-only (everything except savingsaccount at ASN) and this works more than fine. Mortgage also, no problem.

I informed all of my billing companys and everything worked very smooth no problems there at all. I love bunq i even switched to premium last week. Super.

            Hi Sharad,

I switch completely to Bunq a couple months ago. You just need to inform some companies where you have to change your banking account for automatic transactions. Most of them can be done via their customer portal.

A couple months ago I also got a Mortgage for my new house WITH Bunq! I just needed to export a statement overview PDF and they immediately accepted the document. That's it.

I’m bunq only since beginning 2016. I feel free since then. Did not have any issue with whatever you can imagine. Just do it, jump on, bunq on 🐣

Thank you so much guys. This is very insightful. Glad I asked this question. Did you guys use Dutch Switch Service or just move all your transactions to the bunq?? I am considering the DSS and wondering if that is wise?

Just scroll through your last year Transactions. Maybe 10 to 15 business to call for changing the account. Keep old bank for a few months. If anyone wants your money they always will come to you 🏖

I used DSS, havent had to uptade any of my automatic debits manually yet (they automatically updated!)

I started by informing some institutions manually, the ones that made it easy to do on their website, then went for the Switch Service after all to catch the remaining ones. You can see in the description of direct debits whether the institution in question has updated to charge your bunq account directly, or if they are still being forwarded purely thanks to the switch service. So far, all but one have updated, I'll give the remaining hold out another month or two to see if they update, and otherwise start informing them manually. The switch service lasts for 13 months so plenty of time to get things sorted, and basically with this one exception it has all required very little effort on my part.

I just canceled my ING/postbank account which I had for more 30 years! It was quite an operation to switch completely to BUNQ.

                          9 days later

Quick update for all who decided to help- I switched to bunq completely last week. I am now trying to get a mortgage and my old bank is offering a better rate if I continue my account with them but I won’t but thanks again for all your help!!!!

I'm free of traditional banks since March 2016!

I do still have an account at Knab for savings, but I'm currently ignoring it because the interest rates are so low nowadays. And I have an N26 account for better exchange rates for non-euro payments, and to have a secondary payment method in my wallet in case bunq has downtime. (I don't use cash!)

Ben in principe helemaal over naar bunq zonder problemen. Moet heel eerlijk bekennen dat ik officieel nog wel 1 rekening bij INGB heb (zonder saldo), maar dat is enkel omdat het rekeningnummer zo'n mooi getal is..

I am now just in the process of getting rid of my abn and ing accout to be bunq only. With a mortgage it is not a problem, you just have to inform them you switch. If you mean their mortgage have a condition of having an account and deposit your salary, then you have to take it if you cannot find other better option(which is rarely the case).

You can always just say ‘ja sure!’ and read the T&C of the mortgage. I’ve never seen them put ‘Pay your electricity bill here at this bank’ in a T&C. Nor have I had a bank come after me 🙈

I’m completely over to bunq except for:

                                    •credit cards

                                    •KBC for bancontact payments

I switched to bunq completely in june as of this year. I's been amazing so far, no flaws at all. I haven't missed Rabobank since...

I’m practically completely over to bunq. Ditched all my debit cards from Skrill, Pay2d and others. I have even switched my recurring PayPal transactions to the bunq MC, only keeping PP for physical goods because of their buyer protection.

But I still have one ASN account left because it was such a hassle to set up with all those legacy forms and delays (more than 10 days). Kind of feels like a waste of time and all that paper to just let go. Also I like to spread the risk a bit, to have a little backup money available for when bunq has a problem. Although that has like never happened to me.. 🌈
