  • Using Bunq on Android from Secure Folder

I've installed my Bunq app in my Secure Folder, and that works great on it's own. But whenever I pay online via my phone, get redirected to the browser for an iDeal payment or whatever, the webpage crashes with a "don't know how to handle this link".
Funny thing is, whenever such a payment page loads, for a fraction of a second I can see a Bunq page, and then it springs to the error.

Now I can imagine this isn't so much a Bunq issue as it is an Android issue. I just want to find a way around it. I've already tried to also download my browser in my secure folder and opening it from there, but that doesn't seem to work.
I've set my Secure Folder to stay unlocked for x-amount of time after opening it, but that doesn't work either.

Today I finally budged and installed Bunq outside the secure folder as well, to be able to pay online via my phone :/ Security wise, this sucks. Now I'm sure I'm not the only one dealing with this; so my question is; did any of you figure out a way to make this work? Or at the devs; is this something you might be able to fix in the app?

    Now I'm getting double notifications because (of course) I have the app installed twice. Sigh. I guess I'll just forgo the security measures. A bit of a let down I must say.

      I don’t use an Android phone so I don’t think I can be of much help. Never heard of secure folders within Android. 🤔

      So if I understand it correctly, you’ve got the bunq app installed twice now? One time in a secure folder and one time the ’normal’ way.

      And you're experiencing double notifications because of it? Wouldn't it be possible to disable notifications for one of them? Either on a system level or within the bunq app?

      Hope some Android user has some more ideas, but I hope it was of help.

        As Wouter already said, the duplicated notifications should be easy to fix: Just disable them in the bunq app. If this setting is mirrored into the second bunq app, try blocking notifications via the system settings instead.

        For the secure folder and the link handling issues: I think problem is caused by the technical design of the secure folder. It hides apps from the rest of the system and does not let them interact between each other. So I guess that is nothing that bunq would be able to change.
