I tried to pay at different locations in Switzerland, but it refused to work. Off course I put my settings right (allowed countries). Is there anything I can do?

Hi Corné,
It looks like you did everything in order to be able to use your card in another country, maybe you can contact support under Private Matters, they can look into te failed transactions for you and help you further.
A possibility is that the terminals where you tried to pay, are offline terminals. In order for card payments to succeed the terminals need to be online.
Have a nice day! 😄

Hey Corné,
Do you get an event in the bunq-app? Or is it just refused.
Did you try it with your MasterCard instead of your Maestro card?
Please also try to turn dodgy payments on, so the magnetic stripe of the card will be activated!
Have a nice trip to Switzerland!

If you/he/she tried at „different“ locations, it will most certainly NOT be an issue of offline Terminals or MagStripe. Switzerland should probably one of the most modern POS terminal amongst European Countries. Domestically it‘s virtually 100% Chip&PIN (and/or contactless) and online-capable. And terminals work with foreign cards as well.
Mine and a friend‘s bunq cards worked without a hitch, provided settings in the app adjusted accordingly (Limits, and, remember, Switzerland not being a EU country).

Did you select Switzerland? Or European Union? ;)
