@Michele-Indigo-Butterfly#186313 You just click on Pay in the bunq app, choose the currency and put in the local bank details and the money will get converted and sent to the receiver. Works as simple as a regular bank transfer.
It‘s always a good idea to check the Transferwise knowledge base for the region you‘re sending money to to learn if there are any restrictions: https://transferwise.com/help/14/currencies/2955298/cny-transfers
As you can see, you can only transfer money to accounts that have been opened with a Chinese national ID, and they can be Unionpay bank cards or Alipay IDs. And only to individuals, not businesses.
But instead of CNY, you can also send USD to China via the SWIFT network. If you want to do that just choose USD as a currency in the bunq app.
I've tried transferring money to Japan with transferwise, verification failed, transfers were rejected and support was a complete disaster. Had to go through a 'normal' bank in the end (triodos) which was actually much cheaper and worked flawless.
@Wiebe-Cyan-Owl#186412 I have already transferred money to Japan on multiple occasions and it always worked perfectly, lately it just takes a few minutes and is nearly instant. I would be interested in how much fees you paid though, because in my comparisons Transferwise already had a much better exchange rate and at least competitive fees, resulting in more money reaching the other party in the end. Is there any way to look up how much Triodos charges for JPY transfers?
