Which account is the main account
Main account
JohanAce
In which scenario ?

@Jeremy-Indigo-Hummingbird#188300 There is no main monetary account. Within your membership, you can just create multiple accounts. All of them are full bank accounts.
Thanks, the old UI seemed to point one out as such

There's one "main" account, the first account you got when you signed up at bunq. It's the one also printed on your physical cards (IBAN).

@Jeremy-Indigo-Hummingbird#188300 I have only one account

@Naeem-Magenta-Puma#188351 You get what you paid for.

@thijsoost#188347 But you can choose the IBAN you want to print on a Maestro card, right? So what makes it the main account? Does it have any distinguishing features?
ThijsProdigy
@Jakob-Y#188381 Oh this is possible? Didn't know that. I believe as a default, your interest is payed on your main account (you can change this) and your subscription costs are deducted from this account.
JakobProdigy
@thijsoost#188383 Ok yup all of these are customizable. I just checked, when you order a new Maestro card you can choose from any IBAN on your account, including Joint accounts.

@Jakob-Y#188387 I checked it as well; not sure if that was possible when I got my cards two years ago. And indeed, you can change those both accounts, BUT by default, your first bunq account is set (in my mind that makes it my main account 😂)

@Naeem-Magenta-Puma#188418 Hi. No with the Travel membership you can only use the card to make payments in store or online. You cannot send bank transfers.
@pbruins84#188309 There used to be one main account. But I can't find out how to change it :(.

@Edgar-Purple-Lion#274959 There hasn't been a main account since I became bunq customer in 2018. However, you can choose on which account you want to be invoiced and receive interest. But all sub-accounts are equal.

There's no such setting and there has never been. However, could you maybe tell us what constitutes this "main account" for you? Like, what functionality would you expect to change after you make a certain account your "main account"? Here's some stuff I can think about:
- The account where your bunq bills are paid from. (If you mean that, then there's a setting for billing account.)
- The account where you receive your interest payments on. (If you mean that, then there's a setting for interest payout account.)
- The account that's automatically chosen as sender account when tapping on "Pay" or "Request" at the Home tab. (If you mean that, this is always your oldest sub-account that hasn't been closed.)
- The account where you receive payments on if another bunq user uses your phone number or email address to send money to you. (If you mean that, then that has to do with so-called "Account aliases", a feature that still exists but indeed has no settings screen anymore, apparently on purpose.)
Or did I miss something?

The main account is relevant when you have Auto-Select enabled with your card. If you pay a category that is not matched by any sub-accounts, the money gets deducted from this „main“ account. And you cannot configure this one. And it is not the sub-account where you pay your plan from or receive your interest.
I have had some trouble with that, because I have created the account for me personally first and created a joint account with my wife as a second sub-account. I wanted the joint account to be my „main“ account for Auto-Select. But there is no way to change this. bunq support confirmed that this is always the first account. They told me I could remove my personal account to make the joint account my next first account, which I did in the end.
So, there is a case for a main account.

That's the oldest account that is still active in this case. You're right that this should be configurable (and I have mentioned this in the past after Easy Budgeting / Auto-Select was introduced), but not sure if the lack of this setting and this feature defaulting to the oldest active account means that this is now supposed to be called the "main" account. I guess, for this specific feature, sure feel free to call it that way. For most other features it will never come into play.
