I don't know if this already a feature but I see a lot of people in together that struggle with paying abroad. Maybe it would be a good idea if Bunq would sent a notification when entering a country that is not whitelisted.
Or maybe even make it possible to automatically whitelist the country you're in.

Joppe Great idea :) I would go even further and maybe bunq could also display some specialities about a certain country, e.g. "Acceptance of Maestro is higher in this country" or "France is known for having offline terminals" or "This is a non-EU country so you will be charged 1,5% fee"
Stuff like that.

I'm sure seasoned bunqers know all that, but it could be useful for newcomers.

For this to work, the bunq app would need access to location data even in the background right?

Roeshimi Maybe it could just work looking at the carrier that the phone is using? No idea if that is a possibility in Android but that sounds better for batterylife and privacy.

Shelloggs I would regard a feature like this to be a very strong argument to actually become a premium member. To my knowledge, no other bank does offer something like this. --> "Unlike any other"

Joppe I'm on iOS and no developer, so I can't really tell. But I have some apps that already use location data in the background and it is not very taxing on battery life

Most definitely. You just use the nlp service on Android to achieve this.

Roeshimi True, but all bits help and this way it would work even when location services are off (battery saving mode or something). They only would need to know the country you're in anyways.
