Why is an bank account archived while I didn't archive it?

So I made a shared IBAN so me and my friends could pay for our tickets this summer, well we all know how that went due to corona now I requested a refund from the agency and I can see that my account has been archived while I didn't do this.

Maybe one of the friends has closed his bunq account? In this case, the Joint sub-account/IBAN gets archived because all the friends are co-owners of this sub-account.

The sub-account can be reactivated (within 60 after closure) when your friend (temporarily) reopens his bunq account.

Bastiaan So he deleted the bunq app from his phone does this count as closing the account, he didn't do anything else beside looking at the account and managing the payments...

Maybe he was on Premium (or a Premium trial) which then got cancelled because of insufficient funds on his account? Only Premium members can have Joint accounts. Deleting the bunq app does mean nothing, it just means he doesn't know anymore what happens to his account because he won't get the notifications etc. anymore. If he wants to properly close his accounts, he has to do so before deleting the app.

He wasn't on the premium plan he did however have the old free version of bunq, is that the reason they deleted his account?

It's so stupid that they're closing a whole account because 1 of the co owners account gets cancelled...

But he can't login again (with his e-mail address or phone number) and reactivate his bunq account?

Because now we're expecting to get a refund on that account and there is nothing we can do about it....

When the refund does happen, it will be transferred to an inactive IBAN and bounce back after some days. Hopefully you'll then be able to provide alternative account information to the travel agency so you can receive your money.
