The current UI is based on a bright, white background. Some apps such as Spotify have beautiful dark UI, or have night mode (e.g. Twitter). Even Apple has some apps that have a black/dark UI (Watch, Clock). I think a "dark" UI pleasant on the eyes (especially at night) and also saves battery on LCD screens. How about bunq Night Mode?

    Would be nice πŸ‘πŸ’‘

If I remember correctly, onceI read that inverting colors or using a black background does not save battery power but actually increases it slightly (while the screen is backlit anyway, which is the main power draw).

Regardless, I agree one inverted color scheme would be not only be nice to have. Some people with reduced or impaired eyesight WILL find it easier to read white (text) on (blackground). And a properly designed will be even better than just using system-wide settings.

You are indeed correct that battery life is probably not affected on LCD screens, possibly on AMOLED. So that leaves other arguments / opinions:

Wow - so many votes already within a day :D

          I was thinking something like....

          This:

I made some other "tweaks" as well. Such as a button for moving balance between bunq accounts ("e.g. Transfer"), because "request" doesn't make sense as I never "request" myself... and switched the nav tabs (not sure if it's an improvement).

Some different app themes (light, dark,..) would be nice

And Pink for the lady's... and some men 😁

And with a setting to apply the dark theme automatically between set times (when it's night) πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Can an admin tag this as an Idea πŸ’‘ instead of Question? πŸ‘

Hey Roderick! Thanks for the suggestion and for the mockup, that's awesome! πŸ‘

Any updates regarding this idea? It has over 200 votes; clearly it's something we'd appreciate a lot! 😎

Good point, it even got more votes then the and/or or family account discussion. So it's gotta be on top of list ;) #fingerscrossed

Just for the record: LCD uses always the same amount of energy. This is because the LCD screen needs background light to show any thing a all (even when showing black parts). With AMOLED every pixel is a light at his own. So no background light is needed to lit the screen. When a AMOLED pixel is black, it's in fact off and doesn't consume energy.

Yes, bright idea! Should be written in capitals on the blackboard in the developpers room: ERGONOMICS

The Open Source desktop app I'm working on at the moment has just been updated containing a dark mode! πŸŽ‰https://github.com/BunqCommunity/BunqDesktop
