BartRookieThe new splash screen now includes the pay off. Other than the somewhat off letter spacing, it makes the splash screen less clean and more annoying. If you cannot create a ‘skeleton screen’, the best alternative is to just reuse the app icon and resize or crop it different so it won’t add new information and it feels like a zoom. You could add a transition afterwards like the Twitter app. But adding new information to a splash screen, nah. Not so clean.

JonathanWizardHe means the splash screen that appears (on iOS at least) for a short time while the app is loading. It is basically a bunq rainbow colours wallpaper, with the bunq logo in white, but since this week's app update it includes the "Bank of the free" slogan under the bunq logo, somewhat surprisingly, since we haven't seen that slogan used anywhere for a while as far as I know.
Jan BroddaProdigyI have a divided opinion on this topic. On the one hand, it doesn't matter to me how bunq designs the logo on the splash screen, and I still think it looks totally okay. On the other hand, the letter spacing in "FREE" is indeed a bit off (based on the screenshot) and I don't really understand why they spent time changing the logo when the old one was at least as good as the current. But maybe they had a good reason for that, it would help if an employee can give us some insights on that topic. 🤔

Well well, bit surprised here... but mostly in a postive way. I have told bunq numerous times that although I like the unlike-any-other slogan they should not to use, simply because if you to make a name, people got to understand what it is you are selling. In ads and commercials it is almost never clear what bunq is or does. So, the return of bank-of-the free is far better!
But, bank of the free now contradicts the vibe Ali always creates in interviews, "bunq isn't a bank but an IT company with a banking license".... Djoeri even quotes Bill Gates : you need banking, but you don't need a bank 🏦.
So, bunq has got to ditch the 'bank' word again. Yes they do. I would call the subtitle "banking got reinvented" because that is exactly what they did!

JonathanWizard@JohnDo#32509 Indeed I am very surprised to see the "free" slogan, although I do personally prefer it to the current slogans, it almost feels like an old graphic is accidentally being shown in this latest app update. The splash screen is only visible for a portion of a second under normal circumstances so it's sort of "blink and you miss it" (I had to make a video, pause it, and take a screenshot of that to catch it properly...)

PhilAceDon‘t like it, too. It looks very cheap now and not so simple as before. Would like to get the old screen back... without annoying animation.
