why can't a Dutch bank like bunq transfer money to a Dutch bank account in Curacao???
why can't a Dutch bank like bunq transfer money to a Dutch bank account in Curacao???
Curacao is part of the Netherlands - just like Aruba, Bonaire, Statia, St Maarten and Saba - so why not enable money transfers Bunq people????
@RamonScheffer#219547 They're part of The Kingdom of the Netherlands and its people are Dutch citizens, but as an OTC they're not part of the EU nor the SEPA, so you cannot easily transfer money there. So you would need to find a third party service or another bank that can transfer money there. Unfortunately the integrated Wise (former TransferWise) service does not support Curacao, but you can always use another service that isn't integrated into the app like Moneygram or Western Union.
@RamonScheffer#219546 you can transfer Euros or Dollars to Curaçao via the Wise integration in the bunq app.
It is also not possibly with Wise. Thereby it is inpossible to transfer money to curacao.
@New-Indigo-Antelope-177431003#265053 Yes, Wise stopped the support for EUR/USD SWIFT transfers to Curacao. This thread is from April 2021, back then it still worked. If you don't mind having only Cash Pickup available, then MoneyGram and Western Union should still work.
@Jakob-Y#219554 Sorry but transferring money to curaçao is very easy with ING. Fail Bunq
@Mark-Lime-Lion-692418653#272227 Of course, ING has a presence on Curaçao so for them it's not hard to transfer money there. I don't think any Neobank is currently at the stage where they're thinking about expanding to island nations that aren't part of the EU, though. Think about it, if you're a business, do you go for the lower hanging fruits first that give you a lot of return, or do you spend time on trying to climb up trees that don't have a lot to harvest in the first place?
That being said, using ING is actually a good idea then and another alternative next to the one's that were already mentioned here in this thread.
