A legal guardianship is a measure ruled by court to protect you and your finances. You'll have to go to a court hearing where the judge rules on the decision. Depending on their decision - you're getting assigned a Legal Guardian or caretaker (bewindvoerder).
From that moment on you're put under administration and you get a public registration
Every financial instance (credit providers and such) have to check these registrations prior to providing any financial product. During this period, you can only use a bank account that is co-administered by the legal guardian.
How does it work?
Personal account (Leefgeld rekening)
The person under administration has access to this and will receive a card for this account to make their day to day expenses.
Administration account (Beheer rekening)
All income from work or wealth-fare support will be deposited on this account. The legal guardian will deposit money from their account to the personal account for living expenses.
