+1 for the black finish!

@johannes#61153 There was a separate topic of @Michiell#61152 which was completely in Dutch (even with replies) and that one is gone now. So it might be that Sander moved Michiels post here (Sander unlocked this topic first, as you can see)

no no an no. any physical cards no matter the material is a bat ideal, plastic is bad for the environment, metal is even worse, the future of payment is in mobile devices and so called wearables through Google/Apple/Samsung/Fitbit/Garmin Pay or Android Tap & Pay, since bunq update 6 or 7 in the spring of last year I've been using Apple Pay almost exclusively and don't even touch those card anymore (or only when needed). They are a waste of earths resources, bunq in my opinion, should become the first bank to stop issuing physical cards altogether and go with digital, virtual-only provisioned cards in the mobile wallet solutions from the major manufacturers as mentioned above.

Otherwise, bunq might as well make their cards from bamboo for all i care 🤣

If bunq would stop issuing physical cards, I'd need another bank.

@Dennis#61161 no, just a smartphone, watch, ring or other NFC-enabled wearable or jewelry I've even heard talks about car-manufactures are going to put NFC-chips in keys that will contain a bankcard for example, I believe the future of payments in stores (for as long as we are still buying stuff offline) will be a world of NFC-only terminals at some point and beyond the traditional bankcards.

@DaveFlash#61163 That’s just not enough right now. Cards are unfortunately still required in various places, especially abroad. Might as well make ‘em nicer.

Incidentally, that blackish metal card in the OP looks really awesome. I’d pay a small setup fee just to get that :P Very nice! Hope such an option will come. (And otherwise at the very least get a better card design than the current ones :P)

@DaveFlash#61160 I am also against a metal card, as it's even more bad for the environment, but I think you are a bit dreaming with your world without any cards.
Cool, that it might work at your places, but it will take a long time for NFC being the standard all over the world.

@DaveFlash#61163 Not in Germany... some shops only accept girocard (german bank card) or cash (barber, bakery for example). So how do you get cash from an atm without a physical card?

And to differentiate between the cards better in Apple Wallet. So bunq, please add more different designs to choose from.

I would be delighted to pay, let’s say, 5€ to have card with my graphic on it.

Looks like the original response was that the idea of a metal card was environmentally unfriendly. With Apple launching the idea of a card without an expiry date, maybe the longer lasting metal card becomes more attractive than disposable plastic ones 🤞

@smyles#79839 Just because you don't print the date on a card, doesn't mean it's not there. It's right in the magnet stripe and the card still expires at some day.

@johannes#79840 I suppose you could just set an expiration date far further in the future 🤷‍♂️

@johannes#79844 That’s what I’m saying, hardcode it to a date far in the future, not the usual ~3 years. Make it 15 or 20 years 😊

@smyles#79845 .. but why is the Apple Card now helping with this? Then you can also print a expire date that is 20 years in the future. I just don't get why the Apple Card is now showing something that helps with this topic :)
