  • bunq.me option to disable credit card as payment method

I’ve just found out that when I send a bunq.me request, I get charged if a credit card is used for the payment (instead of whoever is paying). I understand that’s due to PSD2.

However, I have no control and no insight on whether they pay(ed) by credit card. This leads to a unhappy surprise at the end of the month.

In order to always stay in full control of our money (wink wink), would it be possible to:
1) Let the user know when a credit card has been used and what the fee will be in the transaction screen (rather than only finding out on the invoice with no reference)
2) Have the ability to disable credit card part as an option in the bunq.me link

Typo/autocorrect in 2) *credit card payment

I like this. Seeing the payment method on the transaction screen would be helpful.

Having a toggle per link to disable payment methods that cost you money (creditcard) would be helpful as well.

Features that give you control about your money. Great reference.

@Joel-Orange-Owl#228324 this is definitely what I am looking for as well, would be an easier option to be able to disable the Cc payments instead of having to warn people using the bunq.me link and having to charge them afterwards…

daarom deel ik die bunq.me link ook niet meer, heb het ook paar keer meegemaakt

@Maleene#275652 @beekie#275655 Here's something you can do, but it's not completely foolproof: Take your bunq.me link and modify it before sending by adding some information:

            https://bunq.me/<example_name>/<amount>/<description>/<method>

Let's say you want 12.50 Euro from a friend for some pizza who is not using bunq, but is from the Netherlands and is using another Dutch bank, then you send them:

            https://bunq.me/example/12.50/Pizza/ideal

Or if you want 50 Euros from a German friend for taking all your home-made stroopwafels while you were asleep:

            https://bunq.me/example/50/Reparations/sofort

etc. you get the gist. With this you can send everyone automatically to the right place. Of course, people could still manually change the link if they know how bunq.me works. And it's more effort. But maybe useful in certain situations.

I just encountered this for the first time and decided to raise a support ticket as I believe bank has no right to charge customers for something they have no control over. In this case bank doesn't give the option to disable credit card payments and the decision on payment method is fully on person making a payment. Bank doesn't inform in any way that this is a possibility and that additional charges exist if that happens. That being said I requested full refund and that the bank will not charge me again in such situations unless I'm provided with option to prevent them. Will see what the bank will respond but I'm ready to take other steps in case the bank disagrees with me.

                  @beekie#284354 Correct, 2,5%.

This is something I’ve been complaining about for years now. For the bank that calls them selves bank of the free, I’m not getting a lot of freedom in choosing here

Unbelievable that there still hasn’t been a toggle implemented to disable card payments per bunq.me link.
