Frederic do you know if I could also use my real name?
If you're referring to the True Name feature, that unfortunately only relates to your bunq cards (Mastercard/Maestro). There's no way to set your "True Name" that you use on the cards also on the bank account level. But you have some different options to abbreviate your legal name. Look for them in the Profile tab > Settings > Personal Information > Legal name. That way the other party won't get to know your full first name. Also make sure to set your "Publicly Visible Name" and your profile picture on the same screen to something not including sensitive information, because other bunq users will be able to see these details when they know your IBAN.
Additionally, I would recommend you to be aware of the Account Alias feature. For each sub-account at bunq, you can go into the settings and choose "Account Aliases" and in addition to the IBAN connect the sub-account with additional phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses by which it can be found by other bunq users. Of course, they will still only be able to see your Publicly Visible Name and IBAN, but it's something to be aware of.
I see you also opened another thread about a related question: https://together.bunq.com/d/47168 If you haven't done so already, it might also be a good idea to ask bunq directly about your concerns via Private Support in addition to using the community forum. You can get to it in the app by following these steps:
- Go to Profile
- Tap on Settings in the right corner on top
- Scroll to the bottom, tap on Need help? Get Support, then choose Personal Support
As far as I'm aware, your personal details aren't disclosed in any shape or form when using a sub-account that belongs to a bunq business account, but I don't currently use a business account myself so I cannot answer this 100%.
Oh and if you're also concerned about using the Community Forum here, then as a long-time forum member I can assure you: we can only see your Publicly Visible Name and Together Username as well as the profile picture, so as long as you don't put any sensitive information there you're fine to post here as much as you want. Nobody can get your IBAN or your real legal name from the community forum :)
