  • Who else loves the new Jackpot feature?

Because I don’t. I joined Bunq to have control of money and not have a bank do what it wants with it. I pay to keep the platform running, keep my money safe and to get support (not opening this can of worms right now). I know you can opt-out, but this just means my money still supports a lottery, I’m just not winning anymore.

Do you also think this feature should not exist? Then please high five this post! The last one got removed for being too negative (it had a thumbs down emoji).

I think its a good idea, it might attract more people to Bunq and improve the overal usage thereby it should make the platform more capable to eventually give a better experience to everyone.

      Hi 👋🏼 fellow bunqers,

Holy cow 🐄😲… the chance to win a smacking 10k Jackpot.. multiple times… every single month… is insanely awesome 👌🌈

I can understand that people think this is wasting money… instead of spending it on features. BUT, you have to see this a bold marketing tool 💡. And we all know, marketing can pretty be expensive. But in this case users also benefit, big time. So, in that regard it is money well spent 👍

@JohnDo#241043 Why not just have people win a free bunq pack for life or similar? 🤷

@Tesseract#241064 True, for now… only 3 countries take part. But as I see it… it’s a marking tool and a way to do something extra for users at the same time. So, bunq gains attention to attract more users.. equals more revenue to do great stuff. And users also benefit directly if they win one of the many jackpots.

But still, I can understand people that don’t like this feature or gambling in general.

Jackpot sounds amazing 🤩 but isn’t available in my country yet.. 😢😢 how sad is this ?!? 😭😭😭

Bit mixed feelings, as I understand the more money you have the more chance… so the rich get richer

Only if I win I call it a great feature, otherwise, why make 1 big jackpot if you can create multiple mini jackpots. I never win something, so I can also agree this feature is stupid. If you split the prize money over 1000 bunq users it’s more likely to win and it could serve as a bonus for using Bunq. Don’t make this a gambling show, it’s a bank

So profitieren wirklich alle davon.

I couldn’t agree with your post more.

Have you considered how strange the odds are of winning? Rich people with hefty savings accounts have higher odds. In another pool you get tickets for inviting new users to Bunq. How large do you think that pool of people is?

@Vincent-9870#241168 It is an incentive to save, not a charity and thus pretty much in line with any form of investment. The actual benefit is getting other people to join bunq.

@JohnDo#241043 I agree in part: 30k per month equal to a product manager, a senior and a junior dev and one or two support staff. Probably more beneficial for this perspective. On the other hand, these kinds of lotteries are pretty common and provide incentives for using bunq and not just having it, I suppose.

@New-Red-Dolphin-2892653544#241339 I am ambivalent towards the jackpot feature, but what bothers me is the unclear strategy in developing bunq further. IMHO they got lost in their strategy and product roadmap planning. Bunq should lead the Neo bank pack, not shine with beta versions which have obvious transactional problems (-> in banking there can’t be a beta related to transactions, only to usability). We need real innovation in the area of investments, user experience of the app as well as designs of cards, cashbacks etc. - a long list. Otherwise bunq is falling back behind the other Neo banks. Maybe bunq grew too fast and is now in a state where they have structural problems like support etc. Just my impression. I hope they wing it and return to the path of leading the pack again. Fingers crossed.

I think it’s a great feature but I do understand your opinion. It’s just sounding like we are paying every month for entering the lottery without having a choice. Maybe they need to add a feature where you pay less (like €1/month) when not wanting to enter the jackpot feature?
