  • Google Pay verplicht?

This is sooo stupid. I tried the Google play option and it is rubbish. The ease where you can switch accounts whenever you use your pass is awesome via bunq. I would hate to lose this feature!!!

Same. I don't like to use Google for payments. The notice by Bunq just one day before shutting it down is absolutely ridiculous.

Gonna cancel tonight. Bye bunq, I never asked for Google connected things, your NFC payment was working perfectly fine.

@gertvdijk#242172 The notice by Bunq just one day before shutting it down is absolutely ridiculous.

It was announced in Early 2021. And there have been several e-mail notifications throughout 2021 and 2022 about this.

@Kelvin-Azure-Bear#242087 yep "bank of the free"
can someone please lay out the exact caclulations and modelling you did so that this is framed as "non-profitable"?

imho clearly profit over people in this move. bunq c-level execs show they do not care if we live in a society where one cannot even have a bunq account without google being involved in that. maintaining the NFC Tap & Pay is a strategic decision but has certainly not only an economic bottom line sadface

@thijsoost#242093 what is your user base percentage on apple/ios? do they matter so to rule over your android user base? why is it "not profitable" for a digital bank to implement and maintain NFC? i would be glad for a more detailed explanation. thank you!

@Jakob-Y#242184 Yes, onn 17th of March you announced in a mail body that we should register for Google Pay with the subject header "Ready to switch to a safer payment method?" and signed it with bunq - bank of The Free

@Mukil-Kiwi#242226 onn 17th of March you announced in a mail body

I would never announce anything to you, because I don't work at bunq ;) This is the public community forum, we're just users like you are. If you want to speak directly to bunq, please use the Support Chat. I have myself received multiple e-mails about this, and the announcement that Tap&Pay is gonna be removed was over a year ago.

You can just add any of your physical cards to Google Pay, you don't need to have them with you. If you don't use any physical cards, you could order one to your home address and add it to Google Pay right away. You don't have to be at home or accept the letter.

Hopefully this information was helpful. If you're unhappy with bunq's decision, feel free to offer constructive criticism here.

@Jakob-Y#242267 Sorry, no offense meant! I dont want add constructive criticism about how bunq communicates with its users - i mean, that they literally ask me a rhetorical question in subject header (as I am anyway unable to not register if i want to continue using bunq as before) - is worthy of critic at itself as they obviously thought this is funny and they are on the right track with gpay... (referring to my other comment).

Thanks for your level-headed reply. My wife has/had a physical card but for me tap&pay was the only reason to pay bunq but I definitely took the wrong door here on my way out.

All the best to you & peace!

@Mukil-Kiwi#242224 This is something that I read under a different community post, not something I came up with

So sadly I don't have any further explanation

Please also add the garmin pay feature to at least replace some tap&pay features?
