@Simon1989#39410 Why donโt you just send your money to a cryptocurrency exchange and buy bitcoin? If you withdraw the bitcoin to your own wallet for which you hold the private keys, you can do what you want yourself.

I still think it is unclear to most users -without deeper knowledge of banking- that there is a huge difference when the bank invests their funds or them investing personally. It's important they understand this choice of investment is just for their 'feelings of doing something good, or not'.
I think this is a first step in the inevitable part of bunq becoming financially independent on the longer term, which is of course very important.
Even newspapers currently pick up the news in a totally wrong way as it's supposed to be (i.e. Telegraaf). It needs a little more background info I guess.
Anyhow, keep up the good work.๐๐
@Arjan#39431 Your choice, your risk I would say. Perhaps a very large red warning before touching this option would be in place :)
@Tim#39437 I guess that this "Regardless of what options we will add, you'll always be covered by the โฌ100.000 Deposit Guarantee Scheme." means that bunq invests, but will also get the profits if there are any then? I mean how can we "invest" (or should I call it store?). Indeed more information is needed. For now there are 0 options so there is time to make everything clear :)
My first assumption was that now I can put my money in some bunq approved green project and profit a bit perhaps, like triodos and asn offering some interest. Now I'm starting to think it is a purely "store your money where you want" type of thing without interest, and also without risk. Which would also be great by the way.
Green energy!
a fairer distribution of health, food and money between rich and poor. Eg via fairtrade, clean worldwide watersupport
@Tobi#39435 bunq already invests in these, as a minimum investment is required to have a banking license. bunq chose to invest in the government bonds as these have the lowest risk/etc. It's explaining in the book "Break through banking". ๐

I would bet it's the 2nd thing yes, bunq has a long way to go in becoming financially independent from the current investor/owner. This is a very important and healthy thing of course! If these kind of investments can help and we have a freedom in helping them out in what this could be of course that a good thing too. All comments so far currently only tell us how greedy people are starting about return in investment, they could all be regular bankers with that mindset. ๐
Very nice but how will you maintain the options? I can imagine you first create a policy to restrict to only stuff where the world benefits like sustainability, no weapon industries, ...
@Freek#39439 I suspect it's not our risk, but as you prove my point: this can be a little bit more clear.
I think this is a great initiative, I love using bunq but currently, if I want to do any sort of investing, I need another financial service provider to do so. This means that bunq basically isn't very suitable for storing your savings, unless you don't mind not getting any interest on your money.
Wouldn't it be great if we could easily put (parts of) our savings into ethical/sustainable investments from the app, perhaps even with the option to put in or withdraw funds periodically? It's probably best to do so by partnering with other financial services providers that already offer such services. This way bunq can keep focussing on what it does best: building awesome software.
This does raise some questions, like who decides which investments are ethical/sustainable? Bunq? And who carries the risk (and reward) of the investment? It seems logical to me that he who decides to invest his money also takes on the risks and rewards.
A great first step I think would be to partner up with a service like BUX or DEGIRO and give bunq users the possibility to put (a part of) their funds into a small selection of ethical/sustainable investments. Don't forget to properly warn users of the risks and of the transaction costs of investing.
I wonder what other possibilities people come up with. Keep up the good work!
@Sander#39447 The difference with a government bonds option is that now the users money can be invested instead of bunqโs own money.
What I understood is that they keep the required investment funds separate from user money at the moment.
@Job#39452 who decides? That would be bunq, obviously. The suggestions are merely that: suggestions. It's up to bunq to evaluate and decide upon them and it's up to the customer to select one of the options besides ECB.
@Johannes#39457 I think it's important to once and for all clarify this discussion. We focus on adding value instead of being cheap. I believe that with our current offering we are offering tremendous value for a few euros per month. Thanks!
@Johannes#39460 Weโre always open for new suggestions :). If you have a cool idea please open a new topic!
Truly an awesome feature! I'm very curious which options we will get.
Bitcoin please
Would be nice to not have to pay a ridiculous amount each month to enable Bunq to play bank.
Green energy and climate conservation please!
@Ali Will you keep the choices limited to sustainable choices?
