• How can I add my bunq account to PayPal?

@Tim#44789

I just replied, and play the whole IBAN discrimination card. If not, I'll contact BaFIN in Germany.

    Maybe you could try the next thing, go back in the app, tap your profile picture and then Edit in the right top. You will see "Legal name". Change this to your full first name + surname instead of first letter + surname. This is a new feature for users outside The Netherlands where that is the standard.

    Now export a statement from the IBAN you would like to use, it will now show your full name and should suffice for verification in your current correspondence with PayPal. Maybe mention bunq is a full EU bank too and not just some payment service. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Also when adding the bunq IBAN from the website did you change the country to NL, otherwise it won't accept the IBAN due to a different format?

      Paypal is talking ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’ฉ. I had no problem adding bunq to my Paypal.

        Just tried adding it again. It failed for too many attempts in the past ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

          It took me ages to delete my ABN account from paypal.

            @LeonElPanda#44793 Have you tried to add the MasterCard to PayPal?
            I have a German Paypal Account and had no problems adding my bunq Mastercard as funding source and also have my IBAN Account activated for direct debits. But the difference could be, my Paypal Account was already verified through another bank, when adding the bunq IBAN.
            So, Paypal should also work in principle with bunq...

              I had no problem to add my bunq-account to PayPal. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

              โœ…IBAN accepted
              โœ…received the PayPal-deposit
              โœ…Confirmation done

                Also added my bunq account in the past, without any problems.

                I just added an other bunq account to check if it's still working, let's find out ๐Ÿ™‚

                  @Bastiaan#44801 @Leon
                  Today, 2 days later, i've received the two check amounts on my bunq-account.
                  With this two amounts i've confirmed my bunq account on PayPal.

                    @Bastiaan#45135 Me too, I also tested it again. The verification amounts arrived today.

                      I had no issues connecting my paypal to my bunq account. Yes, the confirmation deposits took a while to arrive.

                        I remember that I had issues in the past connecting my account to paypal. I solved it by using the paypal app. For some reason that worked for me

                          I've not used the app, just the website

                            @Bastiaan#45135 Me too. Tested with a second bunq-account. Worked fine ๐Ÿ‘

                              I managed to verify my account today.
                              I wonder if it has anything to do with the BaFIN thing.

                                a month later

                                I canโ€™t see my code on the deposits PayPal made. The displayed text is incomplete

                                  @Omaira-Juliana-Torres#52331 you must enter the two received amounts on the PayPal verification page, there are no codes involved ๐Ÿ™‚

                                    @Bastiaan#52336 ??.... I'm very confused.. I get a 5 digit only option on PayPal.. the amounts have 3 digits each... ๐Ÿค”

                                      @jordan-julian-chase#52391 Hmm.. strange. I don't know that method ๐Ÿคจ

                                        I've also added my bunq iban to paypal when I signed up for bunq a few years ago, and it was verified within 2 days with the deposit from paypal. I've never heard of this refusal. I will actually test PayPal with my second bunq IBAN and report back on this how quickly those verification payments come in....

                                        Update 20:40 HRS CET: I've just added my second bunq IBAN account to paypal as you can see:

                                        (no errors or weird messages whatsoever)

                                        Maybe it helps that I'm both Dutch, with Dutch address, have Dutch ID, and Dutch PayPal account?
                                        But that should not matter, bunq should accept a bunq IBAN regardless of the country of residence for EU citizens.
                                        As bunq has full status as an offical bank in NL, DE, AT, FR, IT and ES, I would hope that PayPal at least already support bunq costumers coming from these six countries within the EU.

                                        Will let it know in this topic when those payments come in.

                                        Update 31 dec. 10:48: the verification payments have just come in, so this took 3 days, but was actually within 1 business day, so that very good. I can now use a second bunq iban account for direct debits with paypal. let me know if you have similar luck.
