Hi, Wondering if with Bunq, or any other Dutch bank, is possible for me as an expat residing and working in Netherlands, I can buy a House abroad? We are talking about lower values compared to NL, like 100k€. Thank you.
Jorge Hi Jorge!
Unfortunately, that's not possible with bunq. You should be a tax resident in the Netherlands (meaning that you reside and pay taxes in the Netherlands), and the property you plan to buy also should be in the Netherlands.
Jorge Dutch banks are very cautious about providing a mortgage for a house abroad. Because the pledge is abroad and they have no control over it, they run a big risk. So there are only a few banks in the Netherlands that will give you a mortgage to buy a house abroad. You stand the best chance at a major bank that also has offices abroad. The major banks ING, Rabobank and ABN AMRO also have branches in other countries. Does the bank have a branch in the country where you want to buy a house? Then it is more likely that they will want to provide you with a mortgage abroad.
Thijs Hi, Thanks for the answer, I am a tax payer in NL and also resident. I believe only ING has agencies in the relevant country.
Jorge Only if the house you're planning on buying is also in the Netherlands, you can use bunq for a mortgage.
Otherwise you should try contacting ING!
