• Feedback NFC payment process could be improved

When getting coffee at brood at the ndsm-werf in Amsterdam I had trouble completing the payment process on through my phone.
After tapping the card reader the bunq app asks to scan mij finger. When doing this I only feel my phone vibrating as a feedback of a successful scan of my finger. The app doesn't change state (scan your finger). This usually is not a problem because the connection in most shops is faster and the app jumps to the next state before I start doubting whether the fingerprint scan was successful. This time though the shops card reader took so long to get back to the app that i rescanned my finger, closing shutting down the screen and the payment process.
It took me 3 times to figure out that I needed have some patience for the card reader get get back to the app and jumping to the 'tap the card reader' state.

As I'm reading this post I'm realizing I'm not sure whether the problem was the connection of the shop, the card reader itself, or just the bunq servers. The people at the said cardpayments also always take long to finalize, so that's why I'm guessing the problem lays with the shops reader. Some people at Bunq probably pass this shop on a daily basis, if they're looking for a way to reproduce this process, go get coffee there!

My suggestion for improvement would be to introduce an extra state in the payment process, saying something like: "identification successful, waiting for the card reader to do some magic"

Anyone else running into this confusing situation?

Best regards,
Wytze

I use the tap and pay widget and unlock it before the first tap. Much faster because you probably know that you will need to pay in the next minutes

@-John-#41316 That's a good tip. Didn't know that it existed.
I couldn't find a tap and pay button in the app though (not a big fan of widgets). iOS users probably don't have this feature.
I'm going to check what happens at the shop when using this button.

@Wytze-Silver-Frog#41320 On Android and iOS you can long press the bunq icon to go to tap and pay (on iOS you can do it with force touch)

I learn new stuff by the minute. Thanx

@-John-#41322 Where's this bunq icon on Android?

Stock android doesn't. It the way you drag apps around.

@Wytze-Silver-Frog#41327 that's how it looks like when you long click the icon if the launcher supports it:

and you can move this "out" and have this on the screen like an app icon:

@Wytze-Silver-Frog#41329 I am using a Pixel 2 with stock android so.. But it is a feature introduced with android 8 I think, it's young this feature.

Nice! You're on a tablet right? What type?

@-John-#41331 App shortcuts are supported from stock Android 7.1+
