@cmoiwsh#263176 They should have accepted your IBAN. It doesn't matter where bunq is located. All IBANs within Europe are the same. If a company doesn't accept an IBAN, you can report IBAN discrimination here.

Bunq indeed also has a French address now:
    28 Rue du Chemin Vert
    75011 Paris, France

I'm not sure if you're now able to use your bunq IBAN, you need to ask your employer.

@cmoiwsh#263176 It's illegal for anyone to not accept your IBAN for a direct debit or for paying a salary etc. -- even if you don't have an IBAN from the same country. If you experience any issues, make sure to report the company/merchant: https://www.acceptmyiban.org

Of course, even with the legislation bunq wants to minimize any friction and opened branches in multiple European countries. You might want to send this entry at Banque de France to any company that doubts that bunq has a local presence in France: https://www.regafi.fr/spip.php?type=simple&lang=fr&page=af&id=1960 But not sure if that is convincing to any company that is already breaking the law.

Je peux enfin en faire ma banque principale ?

That is, ultimately, for you to decide. I'm from Germany and I use bunq as my main bank since many years. I still use the original NL IBANs and have not fully switched to DE IBANs, because I do not see the need. If there is a problem with a company, I just report them to different governmental institutions here in Germany (of course first I ask them nicely to rectify the issue and teach them about the law), but as of late I seldom have any issues anymore. Most companies have no problem with accepting my bunq IBANs, both NL and DE.

The situation in France might be different. And not everyone wants to complain when something is not right, they just want things to work right out of the way. So if you want to use bunq as your main bank or not, you have to decide yourself. Rest assured that bunq is doing as much as they can to make sure their French customers have a good experience.

@thijsoost#263180 Well, Telekom in Germany didn't accept my German bunq IBAN. Says it's invalid.

So for now I'm stuck with two banks.

@New-Blue-Pelican-3563283101#263209 I didn't say all companies accept all IBANs in practice, I said that legally they should accept all IBANs.

            @thijsoost#263210 And that's where it's getting weird.
They don't accept it for landline and home internet, nut they are already using it for my cell.

@New-Blue-Pelican-3563283101#263213 Really strange... German IBANs from bunq work without any issue for them, so it's just them unwilling to use it. They could use it perfectly fine

@New-Blue-Pelican-3563283101#263209 I use Telekom for both landline and cell phone (and some other services). For landline indeed I had to threaten them with consequences but it ultimately worked to set up everything with bunq:

The June 30th and July 29th payments are both for my DSL/phone landline, August 11th and June 14th payment is for lending the router. But sad to hear they don't accept the IBANs right out of the bat and still need to be pressured into doing it.

@Jakob-Y#263217 I'm waiting until the actual start of the contract. Then they also have a contract with me. I'll try to just send a notice of a change of bank accounts. So they have to deliver and I give them a valid and usable IBAN.

It's really sad, because bunq really is one of every few banks trying to make things easier.

Also kein Problem.

Bonjour bunq est ma banque principale jai un Rib français je suis nouvelle sur bunq mais je me sens bien pour moi le seul hic je ne sais pas ajouter de l'espèce sur le compte

@New-Blue-Pelican-3563283101#263218 @Jakob-Y#263217 Very strange, that they don’t want to accept it for landline. I had no issues with Telekom for my mobile contract.
